I was never comparing the price range I stated to any brand!

Just using it as an example for him!

I was also never bragging about how much my system cost I was just using it as an example of how much car stereos can cost.

If he is a true newbie to car stereos then he will need this information because he doesn't know how much things cost.

When I first started I had no idea how much stereos cost so I had to go the Pyramid route for the bulk of my system.

We all have to start somewhere.

I've heard that rainbow setup once, sounded like utter ****e, but I'm 99% certain they were set up very badly or there was something seriously wrong with how they were wired. Many people say they're the best of the best, so I'm sure they'd be amazing when installed correctly.

with no crossovers included, you have to run it all active, all active 4 way setups are a full-time job to setup correctly, not to mention the $10K of extra gear you're gonna need to run them properly.

yeah i basicaly wanted to get the sence of how much it will run me into...
now i got a question since i am going to run this from audigy sound card how do i get it into the amp? cause it's 6.1 and i'll only have 4 speakers in the car?
Don't really want to have more then 4 speakers right this moment...

or are you asking how can you do this when your sound card says that it's 6.1?

btw - the rainbow set is a premium set of speakers, though they aren't incredible compared to others out there, they are still a damn good set of speakers.

(they were one of my first sponsors, along with Arc Audio)

Chances are they were set-up wrong if they sounded like hammered dog ****...lol

What i am asking is with out having 6 speakers how can i used maximum of 6.1 sound card... I'll have 4 speakers and a sub in my car... so 4.1 i guess...

Thanks for the post good links! the civic is LX 01 sedan... It's 6 1/2 speakers any brands out of what they sugest to get you sugest in particular? and amps?

just because it's a max of 6.1 doesn't mean it MUST ONLY run at 6.1, it means it has the capabilities of doing 6.1, you tell it what you want it to run otherwise.

Just like with any sound card.

and btw - you have never answered our questions about how much you were wanting to spend on the system.

The sound card is the cheapst part of the system, and it's not what you should be worry about at this point, honnestly.

We don't know anything about your set-up, do yo have a PCMCIA slot? are you running a mini-itx case? these things have a bearing on which cards people will recomend, as will the thing about money on which brands/lines people will recomend for the audio portion.

1000 for amplifier, speakers, and subs, isn't NEAR what you need for the focal and audison stuff

in general, if you stay true to the name brand stuff, you're fine.

anyone who tells you flat out that you should go with this or that brand PERIOD, doesn't know what they are talking about.
