Smile MII10000 Surround Channels Problem *Fixed*

    • I have checked other forums and threads and cannot find any answers
    • The surround channels on my onboard sound are not working properly
    • I have installed the newer vinyl audio driver and the vinyl audio program thinks that the speakers are working fine
    • Can anyone pelase tell me what I am doing wrong, or if there is a different driver.

    What are the symptoms?

    Did you test with headphones?

we can't help much when we don't know what

"The surround channels on my onboard sound are not working properly"

    actually means...

are they catching on fire? are they morphing into green goblins? are they not putting out ANY sound? Are they only putting out low volume sound? are they making funny faces?

I'm going to ask the obvious question...
Did you set the jumper on teh motherboard so that it uses 5.1 like it says to in the manual?
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

darque - do you know if you have to do that ONLY if you are using onboard 5.1?

or do you still have to do that if you are running an add on sound card too?

Only for onboard, since the jumper is for the onboard sound.
If you're running external, you really ought to disable the onboard sound unless you're going to use it for something else (navigation voice prompts, for example)

    First off,
Red GTI - There is no audio coming out of the Rear Mic Port or the
    Rear Line in Port

    Thus answering
    JC-S60 - I did test with headphones.

    Lastly,
DarquePervert - Do you have a MII10000 motherboard?
If so where are the jumpers?
I did not know they existed, but I am up for
    looking trying anything right now.

No, I don't have one. However, this same issue has been raised so many times, I remember reading about it multiple times in posts here at mp3car.com.
I stand corrected. I don't think it's a jumper. I was thinking of SPDIF vs RCA out, which does require a jumper.

Here's a thread on enabling the 5.1 Smart Surround or whatever it's called: VIA MII 1000 5.1 Sub out

The manual gives instructions on page 2-10 (or 25 in the PDF file).

I have the vinyl audio driver and software installed

Like I said at the beginning, the software thinks that everything is working fine and sound is going out of the other two headphone jacks, nothing is coming out of them.

I anybody runs across this thread by searching I need some help.

    Problem:
MII 10000 Vinyl Audio Smart 5.1 is not putting sound out through the Rear and sub channel jacks or outputs
