    Which DAC ?

    Hi well after a lot of reading i decide i will go with USB-DAC

    and i found this ones

    Silverstone EB01

    Maya EX7

    and the Gigaport AG

    My system will have this EQ . (alpine 3321) http://fukuhara.com/fukuhara/derek/c...21/default.htm. and 2 amps(1 amp 4ch. and the other a class D)

    Which one would be better suit for my needs ?

    only the silverstone is a dac, the others are usb soundcards

    Scott.......> i though all of those were DAC. in this case what would be the difference between those. ? or which one of those is the one i need ? i will run just 2 amps.

    well, even soundcards have dac's in them but the usb dac's sole purpose is the conversion (as i understand it). Generally the output is more dynamic and cleaner.
    the usb dac's will be seen as a usb speaker, hence no additional driver is needed. the usb dac's are usually only 2 chan. though and you'll need an active x-over if you amps dont have internal x-overs and pre-outs. I don't have any links off hand but if you do a search you can read a lot of the reviews about the dacs and how they are generally much cleaner then soundcards. The silverstone is an entry level dac but for the price it's a great unit (based on the reviews i've read). You can do some searches for diy dac's and what not if you want better components and are willing to spend a little more
