With this setup, you will need a delayer installed so that you don't get that pop sound when your computer boots up. You can get a pop stopper from david navone's website.

    2. Use the amp turn on wire off of your power supply. Almost all power supplies have this wire comming out of it. They are usually set to a small delay that will prevent turn on pops.

    yup...

Didn't realize you where using a laptop. But you could wiring the power button to the dc-dc and probably the power too depends on the power requirment for the laptop.

Does this seem like a bad idea to anyone else?

I thought the acc was not designed to carry power, just be an indicator for when things are supposed to turn on. I would think that using the acc power for the monitor is a bad idea for that reason.

Also, I remember there used to be a debate over whether a screen plugged directly into the car's power supply would be in danger because the car power isn't regulated, it fluctuates wildly during start-up, idle, etc. This will almost certainly lower the life expectancy of your screen, and will likely lead to noticeable performance difference (brightness, lines across the screen, interference, etc.)
A car without turbo is a car with perpetual lag.
