focal versus audison? whos better?

seen the new focal amps and think they look sweet.how do they compare to the audison lrx series?if anyone has any input for me please let me know.looking at the 4 channel and the mono block from either company.cant decide which brand to use.sq is a big factor.i am using focal speakers.33 kx sub and 165 kf mid-tweets but will be switched to k2p 165 after everything else is done.all input would be greatly apreciated.thanks.

thanks for responding.yes i did realise i put it in the wrong forum.newbies eh.

i guss u didnt get to listen to the focal amps your self,but it looks like u know some of the right people to ask.your stegs look very nice indeed but i think they might be to much $ for me.especially since i do not have a pc to use them to potential.i only got my home computer about a month ago.do u know if the focal production amps are going to sound different than the first released ones?i think i would like to get the focal fp 4.75 and fp1.800 verses the audisons.i read a post somewhere else that the lrx 1.400 wasnt so good.i am going to run sub at 1 ohm on what ever amp i get.my 33 kx should perform very nice i think. anyhow i value any imput u can give me.its hard to find any one who knows what they are talking about.only info i got befor was from the store i deal with in mississauga Ont.thanks for he help.

they are the same price retail as the LRx series from Audison.

The first released set was to canada, they were essentially a prototype run. The ones released here in the states have a few changes made.

The sound of the STEGs compared to the audisons is a world of difference. So far, I'm much more impressed. As for the focals. The guy that I got my information from is the national training rep for Orca, which is the importer for Focal and Steg products. The man knows his stuff. His name is Nick Wingate. If you've been in car audio for any length of time, you'll know the name. He spent quite a bit of time listening to the STEG and the Focal, side by side. I mentioned his comments on both in the post on the focals.

The Lrx 1.400 was an old model (which lacked power) but the new Lrx line-up is much better than the old ones they have plenty of power. I would reccommend the new Lrx 1.1k which can hang at 1 ohm and puts out 1000 watts..

Some people are on the Orca Band wagon because they get free products, Like Red Gti Vr6 I bet if we spoke if you asked this question last year she would say audison is the best, but now that orca got dumped by elettromedia she hates them. now she wants everybody to switch to what ever Orca has, Focal amps(which are ok) and the Steg amps which are nice.

you want a review from someone who heard a steg amp below

I do NOT get free product. I have paid for the equipment in my car. It may not be at full MSRP prices, but we do pay for it.

When did I ever say I hated them?

There were and still are good amps. I was never happy with the fact that they never seemed to have any nuts behind them.

I could care less about what happened btween Orca and Elettromedia, I care about my car and the support I get.

I could give a **** care less what you want to put in your car. I'm going off of personal experience. The guy SPECIFICALLY stated that he was looking at the LRx line of amps. I recently made the switch from those to the STEGs. There's a WORLD of difference, HANDS down. In fact, I just had the judges today at a regional event, get out of the car, and one of them even told me that the car sounded better than their own personal cars. THAT's why I'm recommending those amps. NOT because I get free product (which I don't), not because I'm a die hard Orca fan (I'm not).

Personally, I like these amps, I also like Ducati motorcycles, hate Fords, and love cats....are you going to tell me I'm playing favorites on each of those too?

I am greatly offended that you would take my words and twist them around. That's nothing short of slander. I'd greatly appreciate it if you would take a step back and learn what you are talking about in regards to myself before you go and shoot your mouth off again, sir.

Designed in France, prototypes hand built in France

production amps in Korea (NOT china - get your information right if you're going to talk **** about it.), with individuals from focal who have moved to Korea to keep an eye on production. This was done to keep the cost of the amplifiers down to a reasonable amount, else they would be INCREDIBLY expensive.

1M + in a clean room to manufacture Be tweeters.

The STEG amplifiers have a bigger power supply than the Audisons. In fact, the STEG amps caused the audison power supply to **** its self.

damn, if i compare the STEG K's and audison LRX's, just by numbers, the audisons are waaaaay behind the STEG's. I don't know Red in person, but I don't think she would have thrown out the audisons for the STEGs to come in place if they wheren't that much of an improvement.

so, realy, Hertz fanatic, first do your homework before say bull like that!

and ow, one more thing: that is ONE (bad) review! Over here in Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany the STEG amps are popular as hell and i couldn't give you ONE bad revieuw about either the QM-, K-, or Masterstroke-series
