need to see if they are gonna repair/replace my directed amp, but i'm certainly gonna keep this one in mind.
the shop that got me the 'repair' on the amp want to rip apart my car and check all the wiring, which i KNOW is correct, so i gotta take it for them to have a look at this weekend, i said to them that i could tilt the boot build forward so they can see everything, a 5 minute job, no its gotta be booked in for a full DAY.
a ten year old could wire up the average amp, its not rocket science.

RCA red from deck/DSP/source to red on amp, do the same with white. keep rear right going to rear right, same with other speakers.... + goes to + from amp to sub and - goes to - the same way lol

i think it might be more of an 7 yr old lvl, just matching colors and words lol

no - but you would be amazed. I've gotten into quite a few discussions on this board about the very things that they are going to be looking for when they take apart your car.

    proper wire termination techniques
    proper grounding techniques
    proper wire size
    proper battery size
    proper fuze sizes
    proper everything.

it's not simply a matter of connecting wires, it's how you do it that matters.

    A lot of electrical tape

    j/k

You are completely right(duh) any SQ competitor knows how to properly run wire...it scares me

I've seen shops ground through deadening material, splice into the stock speaker wires instead of run new ones into the door, attach everything with electrical tape, etc, etc.

Of course, I've also seen people do worse to their own cars...but there's a reason that I like to do it myself...not only is it more rewarding, but you know it's done right the first time

exactly! ive spent hours making sure everything is perfectly routed, so that you cannot see any bulges etc in the carpet, i went to the lengths of stripping everything except the dash out. and every ground is attached via an 8mm threaded plate seam welded to the chassis, no ground loops here! its gonna kind of p!5s me off if they don't put it together again properly.
they might have something to say about the front speakers being wired to the head unit with 3 core electrical flex though (temporary measure while my mid/treble amp is bein blown out and serviced, she's gettin a bit old now!) cant do without my music though!
