Just finished installing a SB2 in my WRX

I'm going to take some better pics tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who answered my numerous questions. The people on this forum couldn't have been nicer or more informative.

SB2 is in reference to the Slim Devices Squeeze Box version 2. The SB2 is no longer produced but you can find info about current products at http://www.slimdevices.com

Nice install blkwrx. I have an SB2 sitting on my desk waiting to be modified for install in a VW new beetle. So far, yours is only the second SB I seen installed in a vehicle.

Yeah, I got the idea from Lavajoe (I think he is on this board). His is the only other one I've seen. I'll upload some pics of the computer and the SB while it was still on the bench. As far as I know Lavajoe had enough room in his dash to just put the device but I had to chop the housing and get a longer display ribbon to make it fit.

The computer is a Via M10000 with 256 ram in a voompc case. I'm running TinyXP off a CF drive. The Music is on an external 120GB 2.5 drive.

For those who know the SB I have the SlimServer software running on the external drive because it will error if it starts and can't find the music folder. I wrote a short blog explaining some of the tricks I used for those who are interested. You can also see more at www.blkwrx.com page 4.

loddie if you have any questions let me know.

No broadband access but I also have no monitor I could use broadband for Internet radio through the SB but I would never use it.

    Thanks Jason,

I haven't even sound deadened the bug yet. But when I get around to installing the SB2, I'm sure I'll have a few questions. Yeah, LavaJoe is on the slim devices forum. He only lives an hour from me so I hope to hook up with him sometime to see his install.

There are lots of little things you can do to the SlimServer software to streamline the way it works. If you look up my username (blkwrx) on the slim devices forum you can read all the questions I asked.

Don't forget to post pics when your done
