Wrap your head around this one:
I am installing a Mac Mini-based system with a “Hong Kong special” in-dash single din LCD touchscreen. All video and computer issues work fine (with dc/ac inverter, P1900 yet to be installed). I want to get the audio done, and of course, I have to have a 2002 VW GTI with the Monsuck “premium” sound “system”.
Here’s the issue:
I saw kbyrd’s writeup, and I thought it was too much of a PITA so I wanted to just put in an aftermarket amp and be done with it. Easier said than done…
Here is the setup, let me know if/how I can make this work:
No headunit.
6-disc changer and monsoon amp/crossover/voodoo box are still in place
Kenwood 2-ch amp in the car, powered on constant, no dlyon control yet.
Speakers are tapped using the gray harness on the monsoon amp, and are grouped together on the amp.
The amp has RCA inputs -> RCA to mini-stereo plug -> Computer soundcard
Now, the big part missing from this equation is the delay on control. Since I don’t have a headunit to supply it and I am not doing kbyrds box (yet), I need to know how to get it to both the monsoon amp and to the Kenwood amp (which is basically a glorified line out converter).
I know that I can use the P1900 (when I put it in) to get a DLYON control, but will this work? If so, which wire do I need to tap to power up the monsoon amp?
This is probably wrong, my car will set on fire and nothing will work. But I have looked and searched and have found no definitive answers. Any help is appreciated.
