2000 Mountaineer, wants to fit 2DIN radio..

    Hey guys,
I have a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer. It has a factory radio width7inch/height3.5inch/deep6.25inch. There is a bit more space available inside the dash. I want to get me the JVC KW-AVX706 BUT the instruction online says that it only fits in an opening of 4". My question.... Does anybody tried it before to fit a 4"radio in a 3.5" opening? would u recomend to "make" it fit and cut out the dash opening?

A flipout screen would cover the vent, plus i don't know which one is a good choise. I'm looking for Ipod hook up and easy navigation on radio, good sound equalizer, rearcamera input, preamps (3.5-5V), A/V outputs....

i hope you guys can help me

Well if I were you, I'd modify the dash to accomidate the new unit in a heartbeat. Also if you were me you'd be good looking.
Its hard to tell you what to do based upon your experience with these types of things. I'm assuming you don't have any experience with this, otherwise you wouldnt be asking about it. If you tried it you may be sorry in the end result. Sloppy at best. I'd recommend you take it to the professionals.

as far as i kno, no headunits have VGA input, you CAN hook up a pc to the RCA inputs that some headunits have

but RCA resolution is garbage for computers, you probably wouldnt be able to read anything

double DIN will fit in there. You've gotta take off the part with the air vents and the cig lighter, etc off. There's some torx screws over one part and then it just pulls off.

    flavor4real - just a word of advice:

I'd recomend hitting up a dedicated car audio forum for a question like this.

This forum is dedicated to CarPCs and everything that surrounds that.

I'm not saying you won't get any help here (as you quite obviously will), I'm just saying that you might have better luck on a dedicated car audio forum.
