say, red damn ****ed up you're so far away, think it would be fun to see our cars next to eachother although I'm still doubting on the AS install, but I think I'm gonna go with some peerless/lotus/nova-combi. can't go wrong on that one .
It'll take a little longer before I have everything together, but I think it's worthwhile waiting!

    NOVA TN25MKII (lotus H615)
    PEERLESS C130ip (later on)
    PEERLESS C165ip
NOVA MDS08 (2x for starters and we'll see where it goes from there)

    amps gonna remain the same.

but still in doubt, you know. These brands aren't being retailed in Belgium, so it'll depend on shippngcost or petrol-price if I'm maybe gonna go up to Germany to get them.

edit: one thing's for sure, my bro's driving around in a nice volvo with a crappy soundsystem and I'll be driving around in a crappy car with a nice soundsystem

I found some cheap speakers tonight at a store (Sony Xplod 5.25" 160 Watt 4-Way Speaker, XS-R1341) for $39.87 a pair. (Sounds cheap and it will probably really sound ever ****tier but im a struggling student that needs a quick fix for his car!) Can anybody fill me in on their opinions? I have heard that 4 way speakers arnt the way to go (too much bass that cuts the quality of the vocals and instruments especially if I plan on putting a sub
?) and that I should try to find 3 way speakers so im not quite sure if i should buy them yet or not.

From my past experience you get what you pay for. You pay for cheap speakers you will most likely get cheap sound. Sony isn't a bad brand. For a budget solution on the go you can't realy go that wrong with them. 3 way would be the good way to go. I guess it depends realy on how much you want to pay.

STAY AWAY FROM SONY! I'm sure, even for those few bucks there's something better! even pioneer sounds better to me!

edit: a little while ago I installed some pretty cheap no-brand speakers in my mom's van and even those sounded better than that sony crap! (payed €25/$30)

i can remember 6-angled subs from sony.... guess which brand they stole that design from huh? XTANT.

look into car-audio brands only. don't know what HELIX costs overthere, but they have a nice set of speakers for about €60 ($75) over here.

Okay so you need a quick fix, try ebay and install everything yourself to save money. here is a real quick list:

Headunit: ALPINE CDE-9846 IN-DASH CAR STEREO CD/MP3 AUDIO PLAYER
    about $150 shipped
Wire harness: HYUNDAI 99 - 05 STEREO CAR RADIO WIRE INSTALL HARNESS
    about $7 shipped
Speakers front and rear: Eclipse SE8355 5 1/4" 3 Way Speakers
    about $120 for two pair
    Subwoofer and amp combo:
TWO MTX 12" RT SUBWOOFERS RT251D SUB AMP SEALED BOX
    about $203 shipped
Amp kit: 8 Gauge AWG, Twisted RCA, Wire Amp Wiring Kit
    about $20 shipped
    Grand total: $500

Time and patience to install yourself, PRICELESS

BTW: there are many other combinations of speakers, headunits, and subs for that price. Like I said before, It's you who likes the sound. Everyone hears different!

I think you should stick to a good front stage and forget the rear fill. Go search about it if you don't believe me. Grab a pair of CDT-61's for $139 shipped at woofersetc.com and don't be afraid to give them 150+wrms.

On your budget I'd suggest you go look at a 4-ch amp, use two of the channels for the front comps and bridge the other two and hook them up to this: http://www.ascendantaudio.com/assassin12specs.html

Here is a vid of them: http://www.realmofexcursion.com/vide...sassin12.1.wmv

As for the deck I would stick to Alpine/Pioneer/Kenwood; try and get something with 4v+ preouts.
