without a budgt, unfortunatly, we can't help you.
I just purchased a 2000 Hyundai Accent 2DR Hatchback. Im looking to add a fairly cheap sound system to my car. Anything would sound better than the sound system thats currently installed. It came with 4 crappy speakers (2 in the door and 2 in the back and a cassette deck. I figure im going to need 4 new speakers, one too two subwoofers (still not sure because of the cars size), the boxes, and an amp. Im pretty much new to all of this so can you guys help me. I dont know how much to spend to get a cheap but decent system and where to buy? What to do about installation? And i still cant figure out about the amp? Thanks alot![]()

well, even if we had a budget, theres a million and one things we could suggest
indeed. what are you looking for? sq, spl? your allday everyday install? just give us a little more information. than we could sugest something, but the most important: it's your car, you music and your ears that have to listen to it. so my sugestion is, go to your local shop with your own cd's, tell the guy your budget and what your looking for and then listen to some stuff.

Im looking to spend from 350 to 500 like I said something cheap and well im sure anything would sound better than the current system. The current speakers I have in my car measure 5 inches. Could I go any bigger or do I need to stick to 5 inch speakers? For a small car how many subs and what size would you guys suggest?
Will you be installing a carPC? I am not sure a 300-500 dollar budget will cut that. (unless of coarse you already have the CarPC installed).
if you only have $500 to deal with, you can forget te carputer!
for speakers, you could stick with the 5", but better would be 6 1/2 if you can fit them. one sub will be enough if it's a small car. it depends on sound wether you get an 8" 10" or 12". so you realy have to use your ears at first! certainly on a tight budget like your's there's a load of crap out there, so realy use your ears instead of listening to some audio-shop guy (unless he's trust-worthy)
edit: on such a tight budget you can't afford to make a mistake. I'm not rich, but still i can afford to make a mistake. I'm going for sound-quality, and that's something that costs money, so i'm not buying everything at once but step by step. so I easily can say: "what the heck, gonna try those peerless ones and if i don't like 'em I'll sell 'em again." you see, the thing is, peerless is a topnotch brand, so you can't even go wrong on that.
But on a tght budget, you can't do such things in my opinion, so go to a few shops and use your ears, and don't forget to take your time and bring your own cd's.

IMO start off by spending the time in your local car audio shops! find the sound you like and write down the model numbers for future reference. Everyone hears differently! You might like soft highs (silk dome tweeters like polk) or bright highs (Titanium Tweeters like MB QUART) For price wise, I would stick to what fits and not change speaker size in the doors. 1 12 sub with about 300-500 watts rms will do fine. What are your plans about upgrading later? I wouldn't waste money on some thing you are going to change out later! spend a little more on the head unit. New head unit have decent power for door speakers, so save up your money for a clean amp later. Just my two cents
edit: bring original cd's not mp3's.
to cents? is that like To: Cents? or did you mean two cents? as in the number 2?
btw - dvs - check out the thread I linked to. You might have something valuable to add to it.
