Suggestions for good 6x9 speakers for my car..Need help please!

I don't really know much about what 6x9 speakers are the best quality and stuff like that. Can anyone suggest quality side speakers for me to put in my car? I have a 2006 Honda civic and just recently put in 2 15 inch kickers in my trunk. When I did that it makes the back speakers mounted in the back by my back window rattle. 6x9's should fit in my car right? I just want some opinions on ranking the brands of side speakers. I know Alpine is a great cd brand but is it good for speakers? Just wanna hear people's suggestions! Also do most 6x9's come only in pairs? So I would have to prob buy 3 sets to replace all of my speakers. price range I guess im looking at 100$ per set since I want good ones or are there good ones for not so much? Also what it mean when it says the speakers are 2-way, 3-way, or 4-way? Any help is welcome!

thanks for the suggestions in advance, I really appreciate it!

Wow man, you should research a little on this... seems to me you just came here to be spoonfed, judging by some of your posts.

Good place to start to find what'll fit your car... crutchfield.com. That'll give you the sizes of all the speakers in your car, if your car is in their database.

Find some speakers in your price range, then read some reviews. You're gonna get the same here, a bunch of opinions, just like anywhere else.

I have been looking up reviews and I found out alot, such as I need to match up how many watts my amp gives out with the rms of the speakers so it sounds good. I have been looking but I still like other opinions on what sounds good and their opinions on the best brands out there.

Put it this way... Ur gonna have to have some really really loud speakers to be able to hear them over the 2 15's.... In my car, I have a set of 6.5" Diamond components in the front and some Pioneer 6X9.... I can barely hear the pioneers, unless I'm in the back seat, which really is VERY rare, unless I've been drinking (OK, maybe not that rare... )

If I were you, I'd focus more on your front speakers than your rears...

    Peace,

2 15's is a hell of alot of speaker. you'll need some decent compo set in front to catch up with those subs. a 6x9 wont do that at all! focus on your frontstage, and if you still want te 6x9's lateron, you could do some reading on that. But first thing off is a decent amp and a fairly powerfull compo-set for your frontstage to reach those subs.

Thanks, some good points! I actually can hear the music pretty well now with the factory speakers. I know name brand would be better though. My only concern was the rattling coming from one of the back speakers, like up on the back behind the headrests. That's why I was thinking about getting back speakers or just replacing them all.

If the rattling bothers you, then you should have gotten smaller subs....

Or, You have to turn ur subs up higher to deafen you to the rattling...

OR.... put in some dynamat (or equivalent).

I'm soon going to start on my ICE. 6.5" up front and 2-3 8" "subs" in the rear deck, and even I wil use some dampingmats. Guess you're smart enough to see, if someone with just 2 8" subs needs do isolate/damp his car already, what a little damping would do with 2 15's....

ok, I'm planning on competing in SQ, so it's very important my car and setup are built in right. But even if that's not the case, a little damping could realy improve the sound and you'll get rid of the rattling!!!

    or turn the subs down?

i had a friend who basically did the same thing.... one of the worst sounding systems ever (he didnt upgrade speakers or amp anything other then the subs, he also only had 2 12's).... thank you for actually trying for a quality system and not just a loud bass system.

now that ive ranted about sub only systems :P go with 6.5's in front first. granted im not an expert like some of the others here (i.e. red gti lol), unless you lost your license your gonna be in the front seat driving 90% of the time. thus make it sound good up front, THEN move to the back. Also 6x9's are going to have more bass to them, which from what your post said you dont need more bass :P your looking for mid/high which would be the 6.5's lol

just my thoughts good luck on the system btw and welcome to the boards

turning down the subs won't help much in this case. 2 15's, if they're tuned right, still have a rather big Mms. at low volume that will result in a rather muddy sound, due to less control.
