    external case for head unit

    is there a product that i can move the head unit from the dash to somewhere else?

    thats a good question. i actually would also like to know. it would be something that you dont see to often and in my opinion would be cool and interesting

    Metra makes a universal underdash housing that may be worth looking into.

    And just to stir the idea pot a little, some people have remotely mounted the head unit and run thin (like cat5) wires to the faceplate so it can be mounted just about anywhere. You do loose the optical drive then, but with a carputer who needs it It really opens up mounting options

    is that what the wires that run to the facplate called cat5

    cat5 is just networking cable- cheap and easy to find. There are many other ways of doing it as well- most people just seem to have it lying around.

    Halfords do a DIN slot for moving your headunit..
    P4 Celeron 2.2 - 512MB - OPUS 250 - Audigy SE - BU353 - HQCT - No Speakers though :-(

    the cage that the radio mounts in? the aftermarket dash kit?

    you know you're blantantly asking for someone to spoon feed you...
