Been looking on other forums and wondering what everybody like for 2 way comp brand(s) for under $400 (online prices, MSRP is closer to $900 average) are.
What do you like about them? what dont you like? etc
I just was kind of wondering b/c this is the price range that most people could do if they so desired. much higher and it gets to the really high end stuff (Focal Utopia's come to mind )
edit: i meant CDT not JDT lol, thx scott for pointing that out
Focal K2Ps are hard to beat.
They are very quick and have great mid range and mid bass response.
As with any brand though, enclosure design, positioning, and eqing will make just about any speaker sound great, especially when compared to any other brand installed improperly.
Rather than worry so much about brands, I'd suggest learning about positioning, enclosure design, and tuning before pledging allegiance to a brand. Without this knowledge, it's nothing more than ignorance...
ya positioning will make or break ANY system, however with the placement, enclosure, etc is all the same which do you like more overall?
Assuming you took the different speakers and put them in the same spot in your car which do you generally like more? (i guess i should have said that in my OP)
lol red i think you enjoy giving ppl a hard time meanie head lol jk
The Q-line from MB Quart sound quite nice, although my feeling is that they can be a little lacking in midbass reproduction. The XR series from JL are also rather good.
Like a lot of car audio companies, there are no authorized Internet dealers for either of the two I mentioned. You take your chances in regards to warranty.

I'm am now running the ck 16.2s from Zapco I love the sound that they give but it came at a price they have to be dead on axis, that is my only complaint. the last set I had was the 653csi jl 3 ways. (now in my work car) they sound good not as good as the zapcos IMO but the off axis response is alot better meaning a lot less setup. and as Red said the K2Ps are extremely hard to beat and was a toss up for me to make

I just got a set of Boston Pro 6.5 and have to say they are fairly bright. I have a set of SL60s so might swap the tweeters over. I love the warmth of the SL tweeters, just lacked a bit of grunt down in the midbass section

I like the sound and the company. Soild products, and you dont have to make custom kicks for them to sound good.
