I was wondering if it is possible to change the JBL sub and amp in the very back with aftermarket sub and amp of the eddie bauer 96 ford explorer. Or even if i have to just disable the stock sub and somehow wire around it. Some have said i need to get a new sterio, but others have said I can do it so im just looking for suggestions. Thanks all.

That audio system is kinda weird. Both amps are in the back next to the sub. The wires in the dash feed the stock amps but instead of looping back to the dash like most Fords do, the wires go straight to the speakers. That's a REALLY odd sized sub and it's an odd impedance too. Your best bet is disabling it and going aftermarket.
Does tthe stock sterio work with aftermarket subs and amps?
The radio itself? Possibly, but why would you keep one part of a 10 year old stock system if you're putting in aftermarket gear?
He's got factory amps so there's no high level output out of the radio. I'm not sure what kind of voltage is coming out of the radio so I don't know if it'll work with aftermarket amps.as long as you buy a line output converter.
