    Carputer and 2 amps

I know we can hook up one amp to the carputer. But what about 2? I have a 4 channel and a 2 channel for the sub. If it couldnt be done i might have to run it through a hu and do it that way. But id rather keep it as a carputer running the audio. Any thoughts?

    -active x-over
-soundcard with at least 4.1 chans
-your amps may have pre-amp outs, you could connect an rca from the outs of one amp to the ins of the second
-dsp processor like the alpine pxa-h701
    -rca y-adaptor

In a case where you might use an RCA Y adapter, would you be splitting the output voltage of your soundcard between the two amps?

    as i understand it:
No, the 2 voltages in parallel are equal. However many outputs you put in parallel, they will all have the same voltage across them.

However, you can only draw so much current, and if you go into 2 inputs from one output, the amount of current that can be drawn for each output is cut in half.

so..in reality... i'm not sure.. my brain is fried

Scott, you are correct. When working with parrallel, voltages are equal but the output of current is divided in proportion to the device. So in this case the current would be divided in half if it were to be to use the rca Y adapter. I'm not sure how much of a difference this will affect the output because the all amps are current amplifiers where the gain control is a voltage amplifier.

I hate to be hijacking the poor guys thread, but it's still kinda relative...

Would a line driver possible solve this? Assuming I come out of CarPC, into the line driver, then a Y adapter (as the line driver has only one out) and then to my amps, or will it make a difference?

i'm not sure...but you can get a line driver/active x-over and that will definately work
