    Installing an 4 channel amp for my speakers

    Hi guys,

    I drive a 04 TSX non navi

    I've just installed a sub and a mono amp. I am going to switch my stock front speakers to alpine type S. Also, i got an Alpine F250 amp to install too. I have no idea how to hook up the 4channel amp to my front and rear speakers (4 in total) Can anyone give me some instruction? hints? links?

    Also, I've used 4AWG power wire for my mono amp. I am planning to use 8AWG for the 4channel amp. Do i need some kind of battery terminal like this?

    Last Q, i need an inverter for my laptop. Right now i'm using the cig lighter type of inverter. however, i want to move the inverter to the trunk with all the audio stuff. What size of wire should i use to power up the inverter?

    That could work but why would you want to run multiple power lines. How many watts are you using in total?

    You could use a distribution block (power & ground). Given you are under the allowed wattages through the current power wire that you are running. That way you would split off from main power to each component after the distro

    Hmmm, I'm confused. Main thread title says "Installing an 5 channel amp for my speakers" but first post has a sub title "Installing a 4 channel amp for my speakers". Perhaps if we get that part squared away first.

    sorry...it's a typo. I tried to edit the title but doesn't work. it's 4 channel amp!

    I'm using the mono amp to power a 12" Type R which is like 500rms. And the front alpine speakers are 50 rms each and the rear speakers are stock, so it's pretty low.

    so do u mean..... i should run the 4AWG wire to the trunk then use a distribution block to split into 2 set of wires?

    changed the title of the thread for ya.

    Also, yes, run a single wire back to a distribution block and split it there. Makes things much easier now and in the long run.

    AlRIGHT! Thanks for changing the title for me. BTW, i only have 4AWG wire. So i should run it from battery to trunk, and then use a distribution block and split it in to 2 8AWG? will it be ok to use 8AWG for my mono amp ? Any suggestion of distribution block? Thanks

    it should be fine. check out the sticky thread for proper lengths and gauge. but in my experiance if your sub amp is 500 watts it can handle an 8gauge as well as the 4 ch that you intend to put in

    I'd probably suggest any distro block that holds fuses for as many components that you intend to use

    You really only need a distribution block in the area where your amps are, and it needs to be fused in addition to a main fuse you should have in your hood compartment. The block near the amps is where you would split it into smaller guages (if you want to go smaller), and have each run on its own fuse. The ground can be distributed as well, but no fuse is needed. As far as type, there are many out there. It depends on what type of fuse you want to use and how you want it to look.
