Hello, I'm 100% new to all this, I'm good at soldering and following directions.
So my dads cd changer Alpine CHM-s611 is as good as gone (the box in the back that is). So I thought heck might as well do something with the interface.
So here's what I need:
-all the help I can get
- pin configuration for cord to the box (the 8 pin round connector)
-BTW is that wire universal or made especialy for Alpine units
- a dummies guide to How to make your own USB player with a usb mem stick and other stuff
-How to connect the homemade usb player to the 8 pin wire so that I can use the interface in the front of the car to control the player. Here are the buttons I see: Seek (back/next), Tune (RW/FF.... I think), AM/FM, CD, TAPE and 1-6 (CD selection)
So for this I guess I'll be using 1-6 seek, tune and cd button.
OK all you know it alls, it's time to dump your libraries of knowledge in this thread.![]()

Hahaha funny... I'm not that naive. From what I see it's been done PC to interface. I want to to be USB stick to IO interface to car interface.
Here is what I found with google.

Looks simple, but I have no understanding of BUS nor any means of data transfer. The only experience I have here is when I worked with my dad to make a home made logic analizer.
Also anothering came to mind. Is there any "hand shakes" involved between the interface in the front of the car and the box in the back or is it take a command and apply command. Reason I'm wondering about this is because when I start up the car and select cd, it stays on the radio. If I'm correct the broken cd changer is refusing the handshake so the interface just thinks there is no cd player in the back. Then again I could be wrong and it's just the cd changer is refusing to send any signal at all to overide any current process.
To anyone who understand the comunication with Bus, can you give me a basic description.
