Zootjeff has agreed to update my firmware to change my dsatx, i'll let you guys know how it went once it's completed.

Alternatively if that somehow fails, it seems like the amp ctrl service, which i tested out today for about a few minutes....seems like another choice us usb sound card owners have. I'll have a update once everything is done, i'll let u know what i'll choose.

    HitManZ> Sounds good.

The timers for amp turn-on delay (on the DSATX) could always be variable (say, 1-60 seconds after PS-ON), and the turn-off delay could be similar (1-5 seconds) before turn-off signal is sent.

Can't wait for this firmware to be released, as this is exactly what I need too

    Peace

you could use the usb power and a slight delay circuit to turn on the amp. then in line with that, wire another relay that will open and close by the acc lead. this will give you the delayed on and will shut off the amps before the computer shuts off.

so: usb 5v -> (slight delay circuit if desired) -> relay 'a' (constant 12v switch on/off by the usb port) -> relay 'b' (12v from relay 'a', switched on/off by acc/ign lead) -> amp turn on terminal

Has anyone found a neat solution to this? (sorry to revive an old thread... but) having read this seems to be lots of suggestions of several relays using various triggers.....

The idea of usb to trigger a relay for the amp to come on seems sensible but the double relay solution isnt quite so elegant IMHO

I'm going to add a delay the aux output of the DSATX so that it turns on the amp after say, 60 seconds or whatever people want..

Its a windows service which uses the Serial Port to turn on/off ur amps.
Search for it in these forums also look for "ampctrl".

One problem with Serial ports though, is that when the PC boots up.. the pins on the PORT go high/low randomly - this will turn your amps on and off quickly whilst the PC boots (not desirable) before it gets into windows.

Build yourself a little "delayed turn on" circuit, so that the serial port trigger must be high for a full 1-2 seconds before it triggers the amp to turn on. This alleviates the problem discussed above.

Alternately, you might be able to use a USB-> Serial adapter to prevent the outputs from swinging during bootup. I havent tried this method.. but it might work, as the SERIAL port is only ready when windows loads the drivers for it.. and not during POST.

I know this post is old but.....
Use a pull-down resistor. The reason the port goes high/low randomly is probably because it's floating. A pull-down will save the day at a cost of $.05.

Then how do you get it to stay HIGH when you want the amp to turn on permanently?

I wrote a program that will allow you to control your amps via the serial port on your computer. I'll send it to who ever wants it, just send me a PM.

Hey Jeff are we going to be able to upgrade our firmware to use this option on older DSATX?
