USB Car Audio Thumps...Need user experiences!!!!!

    Hey guys,
I was wondering how everyone on mp3car handles their usb thump "crackle" whenever the usb sound card powered up/recognized by the OS.

The reasoning behind this is that I have a dsatx and wondering how to get the usb sound card to not thump when it's recognized, it's very hard as a relay only gives a like 1 - 3 seconds of delay while we (usb sound card owners) need a few more seconds until windows is loaded and usb is recognized and then the amp is turned on.

    Share your thoughts.

P.S I have already found the problems but no solutions...

best bet is to find some circuit you can build or buy to get a longer delay, you gotta get the amp to fire up after the usb soundcard else your gonna get that thump.

::EDIT:: Here is a circuit i found that will give you about 7 seconds of delay, its pretty simple. I can give you some links to the parts if you need.

Are you just adding more resistors to get the longer delay?

nope, its a trickle circuit that makes the line turning the relay on slowely build up enough voltage to turn the relay on. Just adding relays won't do anything except mabye make your relay not turn on at all.

I may be wrong on this, but isnt the dsatx programmable for the remote turn on delay?

from what ive understood reading up on it, the dsatx has an auxsw jumper that can drive a relay to turn an amp on, but doesn't have anything like expandable delay.

Yeah i couldn't find a delay on it, although i found an early "cut aux" after shut down signal was sent which is perfect for turning it off

You are looking for a several 10s of seconds delay. This does not exist in the current DSATX design. You can build your own delay circuit or you can have me custom make some firmware for you to test out. The first is the better way to go if you want this done fast, the latter will work too but I can't get to it for a week or so..
