I was looking around in CompUSA and came across that. It's got RCA inputs, RCA outputs, Optical In, Optical Out, and USB Powered. On the package it said it was used for recording your LPs, Tapes, etc to digital audio. Also indicates a Preamp is needed for turntables/phono/records.
What do you guys think of it? Anyone try it?
I'm looking for some sort of decent USB DAC/SC with line inputs AND RCA outs.
At that price I'll be a test subject.
Setup:
Dynaudio 240GT
PPI PC4100, PPI PC2350
Zapco DSP6
ADS DAC
Testing new board (Albatron KI690-AM2)

Any new word on this?
Im in the truck testing it as I type. Give me a bit...

I didn't have enough time to really listen... the unit works without built in drivers (in XP). The line output voltage is a little less than the Silverstone DAC (I have that one for reference, and it seemed a tad lower to the ear). It has RCA in and out, and toslink in and out; and of course connects by usb 1.1 or 2.0. I'll have more info soon.

Hmmm, seems like a cheap alternative to the Silverstone then? BTW, did you notice any amplifier POP with it?
The "Instant Music" tested better than the Behringer UCA202 USB audio thing (which uses the same USB audio chip) according to this page Crosstalk in particular, which suggests the UCA202 power supply maybe needs more bypassing or regulation.
I bought an RDX-150 on sale at Staples and had a look inside. The USB codec is a Burr-Brown/TI PCM2902E. Build quality looks pretty good (made in Taiwan, not China); the other chips are all major brands. It's got low-pass filters on the analog inputs and outputs, just like the evaluation board that TI sells for the PCM2902. There's an unpopulated connector location on the board that appears to go to the input pins on the PCM2902 for HID key inputs for vol up/down and mute, which might come in handy for a car pc or other embedded application.
I haven't, however, actually put any music through it, just plugged it into the 'puter to make sure it wasn't DOA.
For what it's worth, I picked up another USB audio thing which has the potential for S/PDIF output:
"The Source" (formerly Radio Shack Canada) had a "Nexxtech" thumbsized USB headphone/speaker adapter on sale for $15, part number 2616365.
Comes with disk, although it appeared to be mostly for 3D effects, since Windoze recognizes it as a standard USB audio thang. It has limited volume control ability; at 50% it was almost completely muted. It sounds pretty good through the MDR-V900 headphones.
Inside, board says UD-302 on underside, ver 1.0.
Output is through 6.3V 220 uF electrolytics.
Chip is CM102S, 18 pins with a 12 Mhz crystal.
Google reveals this chip is from Cmedia, who designed it for powered speaker applications. It has an LED output pin during play, S/PDIF output on pin 17. S/N is very good, but THD + N isn't, and gets worse with lower impedance loads.

Searching on UD-302 revels that Juster spawned it: http://www.juster.com.tw/product/usb/ud302.htm
Ok... I dont have a full review especially since its after bed time for me...
I use the RCA IN AND OUT for XM and audio sys. It works great w/ the winamp plug-in in Road Runner. I need to test this unit into clipping w/ a scope but I don't think it goes far into clipping if any at all.

Sounds promising. I think I may pick this up, then.
