    headless problem

Hi, i'm trying to run my car speakers head-unit-less directly from the PC to the AMP. However, no matter which mode I have the computer speaker setup running on (ie: stereo 2 channel, 6 channel) I cannot get signal on one side of the speakers. I'm using a 1/8 to RCA cable, and only the white jack works. The same thing happens when I use a 1/8 to RCA adapter and regular RCA cables. Also, the volume on that one speaker is very low, and sounds very crappy. I'm running 6channel realtek onboard audio (I know, it sucks... but it'll have to do for now), 2 two-channel Rockford Fosgate 301s amplifiers, a pair of cdt speakers (they both work, and are wired correctly.) and an Alpine Type-r and another amp. amp (but i'll worry about that later)

hey, are you sure you picked up a stereo adapter, not a mono? They sell mono 1/8 inch to rca adapters with two rca's, so you may have picked that up by accident... worth a check

yah, their stereo. On top of that, the direct 1/8 to RCA stereo cable doesnt work. I'm thinking its my amps.

it isnt the amp. both channels work, its just that the red RCA cable doesnt work for some reason. I know the cables are good, i used multiple cables and 1/8 to rca converters. They are stereo. Maybe sound card is bad? I'll probably get a new one anyway..

how do you know that the cable is good? do you have a discman or mp3 player? hook that up to the cable and see if you're getting the same results. if you are then it's your cable. if it solves your problem then it's your soundcard.
