2004 Taurus SES
I have been planning on replacing just the head unit in my Taurus. I have been doing a lot of research and searching and as far as I can tell most people that try to replace the head unit on a taurus run into a lot of trouble. All I want to do is swap the CD player/radio for a nice aftermarket one (probably Pioneer). Before I start taking everything apart and order a new cd player is there anything else I should know/ need? Thanks in advance.
I have a 2001 ford taurus. The connector behind my car has 20 pin. I remember reading in here somewhere that the newer ford taurus has built in ac function and shiet. But for my car, it was easy, just bought a metra adapter and you can put in any in dash cd player you want. However, I think that adapter is way overprice and it doesn't look oem. Are you plannning on keeping your original dash piece, if not, i say hack it and make an opening. And for wiring diagram, i think goracer has access to the diagram. I wasted my money buying the metra dash kit because now i don't even want it. i'm not satisfy with having just a dvd/mp3/divx player.
what i'm trying to say is that, if you think you'll be happy with having a motorized screen or just dvd player, then buy the metra kit. otherwise, down the road when you want to make the switch, it'll cost ya money.

The car audio forum is dedicated to integrating your car audio system with your CarPC.
For specific questions related to car audio equipment systems that do not include CarPCs, I would recomend checking out car audio specific forums:
There is a chance that someone on here might have an answer for you, I would just hate for you to wait around for it when I know you could get an answer much quicker on a dedicated forum.
btw - I moved this since it's CarAudio related.
If you have electronic climate controls, you'll have to fabricate something.
