    jvc kd-av7010

    Hi-

I had a jensen vm9311 in my 99 altima. I had installed a pair of Pioneer TS-G1641R in the front and my car stereo never sounded better.

I bought another pair for the rear speakers.

    Then the jensen got stolen.

I installed the rear speakers anyway and replaced the jensen with a refurbished jvc kd-av7010.

My stereo sounds like crap. It's so flat. The fullness of sound and the nice bass are all gone. How can a cheaper jensen sound better than a more expensive jvc?

I may have installed the rear speakers incorrectly (maybe switched the polarity?) But I don't think so, cuz a fade/balance test seems fine. Or the hole in the wall place where I had my jvc installed may have installed it incorrectly (although they claim there's nothing wrong with the connections). Or the JVC needs to have a subwoofer for a full sound.

    Help?

my guess is (although you may think not) that your speakers are playing out of phase. that way, the one speaker eliminates the sound of the other speaker. so i would say: check and doublecheck your speakerwires and reverse polarity of only 1.

not to mention this forum is dedicated to carpcs...

but I would go with phasing issues first.

Did this car happen to have a high end factory audio system? Like Bose? I doubt it in an Altima, but I am curious. The only reason I ask is because if it has a factory amp that is being intergraded, there may be issues with a build in crossover.

    wow almost a year later..
it turned out I just needed a subwoofer. the jvc had Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro-Logic II, and DTS Surround Decoding, so it was looking to send the bass frequency to a subwoofer. Once I bought and installed one it sounded great.

and the jensen sounded good because it's output was just stereo and not multi-channel.

but alas, the subwoofer and JVC this time has been stolen. argh.

so now I'm trying to hide an amplified equalizer behind the glove compartment and use it just to power my portable mp3 player. I got the idea from this thread:

hope it works. wish me luck.
