    Sound Card Voltage Outputs

Hey, anyone know roughly what soundcard's output **** at? Also, when I do my tune and adjust my gains, should I turn the bass boost on the amp to 0 or +18db?

they range from .5v to 2v. you'll get close to 2v with soundblaster live and audigy. i'd like to say +18db but u may get noise interference because of the low volt output of the soundcard... it's just my experience.

Always turn off any bass boost and EQ functions before tuning your amps. As far as sound card output voltage, it varies from card to card, but most of them are pretty low.

You could always use a multimeter and test any soundcard you have. You could also ask others to do the same.

The PCI version of the live is 2V. I can't say for the USB version though since they don't have it listed. If you look for an auzentech soundcard (PCI) it has 5V outputs.

Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit Audio Performance
    Signal-to-Noise Ratio (A-Weighted) = 100 dB (2V)
Frequency Response at -3 dBr = <10 Hz to 40 kHz Specifications are based on digital-to-analog audio playback (for example: CDDA, WAV, MP3, Dolby Digital)
Also: Bass boost can cause clipping = distortion

I'd focus on tuning your amps correctly before messing with bass boost or any other lame boost.

I still wonder why they put **** like bassboost on an amp.... probably to give them ricers some more fun and us a bigger headache

haha. I'll tell you what bassboost is for.
This one time I was sitting in my car, and this stupid stuck up woman came and parked next to me. She parked really close, she was driving some bmw suv. She got out of her car and ignorantly threw her door open and it nailed mine. She quickly tried to pull the door shut but it was caught on my gas tank, so I go out of my car and asked her, "what the **** are you doing?" She tried to play it off like it was no big deal. Anyways I ended up unsticking the door, and she got back in her car. She then sat down and looked irritated and started reading.
So I went to my trunk and hit the bassboost
I cranked my system as loud as it could get. Then I got out of my car and left it running, locked it and went on my way.
