Help wiring tweeters to amp

I'm working on re-wiring the stock speakers in my car straight to my 6 channel amp (I'm not using a head unit, just my carpc). Front and rear left and right are pretty self explanatory, no problems there, but I don't understand where I should wire the tweeters to.

Sorry if that sounds confusing, here's an example. My front right speaker is wired to front right on my amp. Can I also wire the front right tweeter to the same spot?

Are you wire components using a passive crossover or are doing an active setup?

you need a passive x-over otherwise you'll be dropping the load to 2 ohms or raising it to 8 and getting the full signal to the tweeter and blowing that speaker. you may want to look into replacing the at least the front speakers to make things easier on you.

So if I get new front speakers with built in tweeters I won't have to worry about the crossover? If that's the case it does sound easier....Any suggestions for speakers?

you could get the ones with built in tweeters, they are called coaxial speakers. or you could by component speakers that have seperate tweeters and a seperate x-over. basically you just wire up the tweeter and the mid range speaker to the x-over's outputs and then the x-over's input to the amp. and you'd be good to go.

as far as suggestions, go to a local car audio shop and find something that sounds good to you.

Ok, looking online coaxial speakers appear to be significantly cheaper than components. Are components that much better, or should I save my cash?

components are much better. the use high quality x-over components at a steeper slope. they give you more mounting options and usually can handle more power.

Just because components are better, that does not mean coaxials are bad. YOu just have to decide how much you are wiling to pay, and how much time you are willing to put in, that will tell you what to get. I have heard good things about the infinity coaxials. I don't have them, so i can't say for sure though.

JC-S60 has some infinity coaxials, and even without any form of box around it, they still sound pretty desent, even put out a enough low-mids to make it bearable to listen to....

one of the main reasons components are used over coaxials/triaxials, is the ease of seperate woofer- and tweeterplacement.

In my opinion the speakers themselves aren't any better in component-sets, but yes, the x-over being used will be better, and with seperated tweeters and woofers it's easyer to build up a good soundstage. An other option - only if you don't have the money for a desent component-set - is to buy a coax that sounds good to you, and seperate the tweeter from the woofer*

*note: you'll need to buy/ build an x-over yourself.
