Losing my head (unit) - A Little Confused About Amps

I am piecing together an entirely new system for my jeep cherokee and am having a little trouble understanding exactly what I need when not running a head unit.

I'm not what you'd call an audiophile and am looking to set up a simple system. (2) 6.5's in front, (2) 5.25's in the rear, and (2) 10" subs. That's it. All mid range quality gear. Nothing special. I listen to radio and play MP3's 90% of the time, so I'm not looking to spend a ton on high end amps that won't do me any good.

Sooooo, what should I do amp-wise? Since I have 1 optical out from my sound card, am I limited to using only 1 amp? Is there a cumulative list of amps with optical inputs (aside from the 5.1 sticky above)?

Also, since I'm going without an HU, must I use a processor? I know, noob question. I couldn't find a specific answer in the faq. Can someone please give me a shove in the right direction? Thanks.

If you're only going for midrange stuff, an amp with optical inputs most likely isn't within your price range. I don't even own any optical amps myself... Your soundcard most likely has a standard 3.5MM output that you can use for audio output into your amps.

Use the headphone / line out jack on your sound card with a headphone jack to RCA jack cable. Use splitters to seperate the the stereo signal into front/rear/sub for your amps.
