Radio reception issue - 2001 Nissan Maxima

I am getting minimal radio reception since I installed the Clarion 765MP in my ride (2001 Nissan Maxima). I remember getting exceptional reception when I had the factory Bose deck installed but now I rarely get a lock on any stations. The Maxima needed a special adapter for the antenna, I think the antenna is embedded on the rear window, and so i'm wondering if the cars antenna system was somehow powered. Now that i've installed an aftermarket deck maybe the antenna reception sucks because it is no longer powered? Any insights?
    Much appreciated...

    System:
    Clarion 765MP
    Focal seps (front)
    Focal coax (rear)
    Alpine 4ch (front/rears)
    MTX 2160 (subs)
    1pr Kicker 12"

you DID get the adapter right? certain nissan antennas used diversity antennas and are 2 prong. you need to adapt that to the universal antenna... Anyhow, if you installed the radio yourself, check your wiring, possibly the power antenna lead isn't hooked up properly. If someone else installed it, have them check it out. But pretty much regardless, almost all aftermarket radios get worse reception for radio than factory ones.

I've especially heard of and seen for myself that Nissan gets the worst reception quality out of most other make because of the diversity antennas

Yeah you have to get an adapter that combines the motorized antenna with the in-rear-window antenna. I got mine from eBay. You're probably just using the in-window antenna.

Also, I've read that stock stereos usually pull in signals better than aftermarket.
