    amazing sound...only from rear...:(

Yesterday a friend of mine finally installed my setup in my truck. Beautiful box, amazing sound, but at the end of the day it only sounds like I have a system (low, mid and highs) in the back. My stock setup is bose in the Yukon w/ a factory amp. I have changed my HU to a Premier (pioneer) and prior to yesterdays install I only had my stocks and a 10" kicker l7. Everything sounded pretty good then and the stock bose was plenty loud and clear for my needs. So....The box we put in yesterday consists of a new 12" kicker L7...(2) 10" pioneer midrange free air speakers and (2) pretty temporary bull**** 3 1/4" tweeters. It all really does sound extremely loud and extremely clear. Then...on the way home I realized that it seems as if sound is only coming from the back. I'd rather not upgrade my stocks or add additional speakers or amps...Is there some kind of audio amplifier (like a video amplifier box) that I should use or something? The speakers have rca's run to them from the premier HU.....Could this be draining power to the stocks or something? I know what I put in will completely overpower what is stock, but prior to this the stocks were pretty damn loud that I don't think they would sound nearly as low as they do now...By the way.. I have (1) 300w kicker amp powering (1) 10" mid and (1) tweeter....and other 300w kicker powering the other 10" and tweeter...and a 2500w mono powering the 12" L7. And I tried adjusting the fade in the HU and it really makes no difference at all. Thank you for your help!!

The speakers have rca's run to them from the premier HU.....
Are you running wires from the HU to the amp to the speakers, or are you running HU to speakers, and then doing some weird splice thing off of that to the new stuff?

And the speakers that are working, are those the replaced ones?

no..the rca go from HU to amps and all the speakers work in the entire truck, but the sub mids and highs in the new box in the back are 1000 times louder than the stock speakers so that it sounds like there are no other speakers at all in the truck..

Well stupid question but does your headunit support sending out both amplified signal for the speakers and an unamplified signal to your new amp at the same time?

that should be ok... I doubt it'll be either or...

the problem is exactly what you said, there overpowering the fronts... try disconecting the mids & highs in the box & seeing what your stock system can sound like with just bass...

ok...he said that we are only using the pre-outs of the HU w/ rca's. No speaker wire...He thinks that the problem is stemming because the (4) total amps (2- 300W, 1- 2500W MONO, and factory bose amp) are all pulling off the HU and there is not enough power. He thinks an audio pre-amp amplifier or an rca booster my resolve these problems. What do you think?

make sure on your 4-channel amp, that you have set the gains for both the rear and front speakers. I remember when I first got mine I forgot to do the rear speakers and the fronts were 1000x louder.

I don't have a 4 channel amp...I have (2) 2 channel amps pushing the mids and tweeters in the rear box, and 2500w mono pusing the sub in the box..and all the stock front rear side speakers are pushed by the stock bose amp. I really didn't want to upgrade the stock speakers and amp. Do I need to do so, because my back box is so powerful? Keep in mind that it is a Yukon, so the rear is completely open to the interior. Therefore, I think the mids and highs are even louder....

how did he actually pull rca's from that? did he use one of those adaptors? this is a little hard to tell really... I guess his conclusion could be right....

I would try to tap into the rear speaker leads with a speaker-rca adapter instead maybe... if he's tapping before the bose amp this could be causing a problem with the bose not getting enough power I guess....

it still could very well be that the box is just overpowering the system.... can you at least turn it way down & see?... your never going to get any kind of real sound quality with huge mids & tweets behind you like that, the front stage needs to be strong...
