won't really matter. It's better to put in a fuse that's a little overrated, than to put in one that is underrated. EXCEPT for the ones you put in front of your amps. There you might considder the opposite.

Why are you going 4g into the amps..?
Just run the 4g to fused dist block the 8g to amps.. that should be plenty if its less than 8-10 feet.
I have 4g from battery to trunk then fused block and 8g x 2 to my 2 amps that can pull 40amps max.

Mine is like this but its a 4x 8g out

a fused block? waste of money. the amps internal and the battery fuse should suffice.

i used to have 4 amps on a fused block, never popped one, it was pointless.

though you make a good point about going 4g to dual 8g, as both the amps can accept 8g power.

but is not keeping it 4g at least beneficial?

a fused block for ground is a waste of money, but why should it be for power? I've read enough about people blowing their amps when the fuse whas still in one piece..... having a fuse in front of your equipment didn't harm anybody.... (be sure to take fuse that's rated lower than the internal fuse(s))

i just think having a fuse 18" from the battery, and then 12-36" away from the amps, another fuse is a bit overkill.

    what am i really protecting?

if an amp blew and the fuse didnt, something went wrong in their math.

if you put the fuses like you suggest..... you're right, you protect *****, that's why you should put your fuses as close to your equipment and battery as possible, with a maximum of 12".....

if the amp blew and the fuse didn't, yes there could be something wrong.... By putting a fuse infront of each part of your equipment you could prevent such things. If something went wrong due to any failure the outer fuse still protects the amp.....

Well of course it could be beneficial.. but if its less than a few feet 8g will be plenty.
Yes a fuse block for the ground is sort of pointless but its easier sometimes to have one good ground and use the block to add more components.

they have unfused blocks for that

i think I am still leaning towards an unfused power block. i just fail to see what electrically can happen between the battery, the block and the amps?

sure if somehow the power wire running the length of the car grounds out (impossible), it would save the amp, but 99% of my interpretation of my setup is its overkill and just another part to have to buy (fuses).

though, im not saying no one should use fused blocks, just dont think i really need it.

    4g to 8g is tempting

    4g to 4g seems best.

why should you buy 4g? your main wire is only 4g so splitting into 2x4g won't give any benefit.... only extra cost....

edit: my amps can only take 8g and are also 30amp and 40amp fused.... I fail to see why it would need 4g.... If that would be the case, they never would have made 8g terminals, or never would've sold my amps with any success.....
