    port shapes

    is it ok if i use a port like this:
    I--\
    I___\

    so im not very good at text drawings but u get the idea, its a square with a triangle attached, i just dont want something wierd to happen with the tunning frequency.

    i dont understand that drawing...sorry

    but port shape can affect port noise.
    anyway you could free hand it in Paint or something?

    a port can be any shape you want it to be. What matters is the surface area of the port. There are a few things that will give you port noise. Not rounding off the edges of the port for instance can give you port noise.

    Let's say you need a port with a SA of 10 sq. in.

    You can have a port that's 5" x 2". One that's 1" x 10". Or even one that's 1/2" x 20".

    Chances are, your 10" and 20" long ports will have port noise because they are so slim.

    Bevel off the edges of both the inside (inside the box) and outer (the part that you see) of the port as well.
