hum, i dont think you can compare a bass guitar amp and speaker to a pc speaker. but well.

it looks like this is not the right place for this tread.

thx to everyone for your time

    greetings, Nacho

Actually, the thing is you're in 100% the right place for this thread. And the people that know a thing or three about car audio are telling you that your idea a possibility, but not a very good idea.

We mod things here, mostly computers. I don;t know much about guitar amps, but you need to either convert the power supply to DC-DC or buy an invertor that can handle the power consumption of that huge thing you want to put in a small space. No one here said it couldn't be done, we are just saying it might not be a good idea. (The PC speakers thread was another big discussion thread that was just not a good idea and a few people had tried it with bad results). We just don;t wnat history to repeat itself. That's all.

if you have to use an inverter to power it, it's not a good idea.

Inverters introduce all kinds of noise in a system.

not to mention, it's an incredibly inefficient way to go about getting sound in your car.

I agree. Anything is possible, the real question is does it make sense? Is it justifiable?

    1) How much power does the amp put out?
    2) If you can find an invertor to power it or a DC-DC soultion.

1+2= >$$ then what a car audio amp costs.

Don't think that really matters when it comes to a guitar/bassamp..... No way you'll make it sound good anywayz..... As long as you use the invertor only for just that I don't see a problem....

If you're gonna use a guitar-amp for your car-stereo..... I agree with Red and durwood though!

I didn't want to step on his dreams and aspirations as I once tried some incredibly crazy things once. It's just easier to show why it won't work if he gave us more details on what he has (specs) and why he is trying to do it.

If he wants that WOW factor go for it.
If he is experimenting, then go for it.
If he is trying to cut corners, I wouldn't do it!
When you cut corners you create headaches.

Hell, when I was a poor teenager with limited tools, limited $$$, and a crappy car, I once made kick panels with coolwhip bowls. Not my finest hour, I learned from it though. My first ever amp was a Jensen that I bought at Bestbuy with bag of change because banks weren't open and I was just too excited to get into car audio. Oh my have I matured.

Ok enough of my history and flashbacks. Back to why this should not be done.

sorry durwood, but I have to get in on this..... WHY, just WHY didn't you just buy a nice set of +15Hp stickers, instead of that jensen amp, with that change????
