which hu to use with carpc?

So i decided that i want to use a HU still for like my standard radio/cd player... and EQ

i will just have the HU under the lilli...

now im not sure which HU to pick.. which works best with a PC? which also has preouts for my subs

any ideas?

i know this is going to go against your original questions, but have you checked out the HD radio thread? it'll cost close to medium quality head unit and get you hd radio that can be controlled by the computer. eq you can get a free plugin to take care of that and cd player you can get a slot/slim loading dvd rom drive and a cheap ebay slot/slim usb enclosure and have a cool head unit-less setup.

a medium-quality HU for $99??? come again?..... But yes the HQCT and a slotload would be a better option and it will be cheaper and better than a HU for the price!

not the hqct, the hd radio tuner for the 3 series bimmer and then the usb interface...comes out to about $250 IIRC and is rumored to have great reception:

You can get Pioneer which we build car pc connections for. Also there are projects to connect Sony to PC via serial (gnuunilink).

Well my sound card is an onboard sound card... i wasnt sure if the sound quality would sound the best with that...

u guys think it will if i get an amp?

the sound quality wont be any better if you get a head unit. you're just going to have louder noise. personally i'd suggest get a new soundcard and go from there.
