    ohms question

    My setup is the following:

    Audio
-Infinity 7541a Reference Series 111w RMS 4 Channel at 4ohms
    -Infinity Kappa Perfect6.1 Components 100wRMS 4ohms
    -Infinity Kappa 6x9mids 110w RMS 2ohms

Will running the mids at 2ohms and components at 4ohms be a problem?

shouldn't be, it'll just draw your soundstage back behind your head (most likely) and also will be a dirtier signal back there too

yeah, the 2ohm speakers will be in the rear. How much worse do you think the sound quality will really be? My main concern is that i dont cause any damage to the speakers running a different ohm than the amp is set to. Thanks!

There's no "set to". the 111W 4ohms means when you connect a 4 ohm load on it, the amp can only send out a max of 111W safely. If you look at the specs on that amp, it also says 139W 2ohms, which means 139 watts if you connect a 2 ohm load on it. Since they will be on different channels, it's okay to mix the impedances, you'll just have different amplification levels on the different channels.

oh now i understand, thank you for clearing that up.

I havent inspected my closely yet and was under the impression that it had a switch to choose between 2ohms and 4ohms. a noob misunderstanding i will admit. Thank you.
