    VIA M10000 Sound Problems

I am only getting audio out of the right channel and not the left channel. I have the shunt jumper the middle pins. Is there supposed to be another shunt on there somewhere. The manual says that there are 2, while I only have one. Also when I connected my sub amp to the mic jack after configuring everything it is still putting music out of my 10" sub, when I just bass only. Any ideas? If I choose bass only it is very little bass at all. When it's putting out the music it's hitting really hard, but it's barely pulsing if I choose uncheck exchange LFE

Yes. Pins 5 and 6 (the middle two pins) AND 9 and 10 (the right 2 pins if you are facing the rear of the motherboard) should both be jumped. This would explain why you are getting one channel.

The sub is probably getting a summation of the 2 channels; if you are only sending one channel of audio, this may explain the weak bass.

You can pick up a pack of "mini jumpers" at your local computer electronics store.

I am really made now. I installed everything over the weekend. It was working and everything was great I turned the key off, it shutdown and everything was still good then a little bit later I went to turn it on and I no longer have sound. The pins are jumped correctly and device manager says: device is unable to start.

I hope you didn't jump the pins with your atx power cable attached? You could have shorted something out?

I would also try removing your audio drivers and reinstalling them.

No, I meant I jumped the pins before I installed it. As I bench tested it for a couple of weeks before I installed it. I tried uninstalling the driver but that didn't seem to work, I'm going to try it again though. I'm wondering how much sound quality difference there is between the VIA VT1616 and just a pci sound card with front, rear, and sub outs

I went to Microcenter today and picked up a PCI 5.1 Sound Card for $20...I'm working on tuning it right now.
