Zotac's Zbox HD-ND22 barebones mini PC
My carpc is currently based on a Acer Revo Atom based nettop. It's basically Acer's netbook without the screen, which is what I was looking for as I am going to use an 8" lilliput in my dash. I was somewhat concerned about the speed of the processor because I'd heard horror stories of the speed of an Atom. I was pleasantly surprised when I hooked the hdmi out to my 42" screen living room and ran Google earth in full HD with little in the way of stuttering or lag. The power of the ion chipset, I guess!
Time marches on, however and the new generation of htpc/nettops/mini pcs are coming out with the next generation of processors. Zotac has come out with a new series of bare bones PCs that incorporate Intel's CULV processors, including the Core 2 Duo-based Celeron SU2300 CPU. The Tech Report has a detailed review of the new unit here.
I was wondering about the difference in speed and power consumption between the two processors until I saw that Anandtech has a good comparison of the two processors over here.
I might be looking into upgrading sooner than I thought!
