    another album art thread

i did my searching, but still can't figure things out.

this weekend was spent getting all 2 thousand of my mp3s in line and properly tagged. i used a combination of a bunch of things to take care of the tagging, and let the new windows media player take care of finding album art.

got a problem though. i ended up putting all of my mp3s in a folder together, not separated by folder in accordance to albums. the album art shows up fine in windows media player, so i guess what im asking is just how it's able to do it and if there is a way cf can do it without me doing a ton more work separating everything into folders.

If the album art shows up fine in WMP with all your MP3's in one folder, then the art is embedded in each individual files' tag. I don't know if CF recognizes this or not. I can tell you that in my opinion, in the long run, you're going to have a lot fewer headaches if you just take the extra time now to separate your files into proper folders.

    ugh...more time.

david, any plans to have cf be able to read album art from mp3 tags?

after some searching on the net, i found this...

    MediaMonkey see, MediaMonkey do

We're going to use MediaMonkey to embed album art in your music files. This is a bit different from Windows Media Player's messy default method of adding art as separate files within each album folder. The advantage of embedding is that all desktop music players (including Windows Media Center) and portable devices (like the Creative Zen Vision:M, which is notoriously finicky when it comes to album art) should be able to display the art, because it's, well, embedded.
what i can tell you is that wmp puts hidden image files in each folder for whatever song you are playing. they are named very oddly.

but i downloaded mediamonkey and it is working good. the album art is showing up in cf.

Use Mediamokey to RE-organise your mp3's into folders. (Auto-Organise).
Then use Album Art Tagger to extract all embedded art to "folder.jpg" in each album folder.

Does CF support ID3 tag art now? It' never worked for me which is why I use this method.

    perhaps i spoke too soon.

i thought it was reading the embedded album art that media monkey was giving the songs, but it actually is not.

thanks for the auto organize tip. i'll use that method if there isn't a fix for this. i really would prefer to keep all the songs directly in one folder. it seems redundant to me to have album folders when you can simply sort songs by album in windows explorer.

MediaMonkey DOES embed albumart into each individual file. I use it all the time. Is that what you're saying here?

It should read the embedded art as well...
