Can you tell us what version of the toshiba stack you have been testing with? The laptop im planning on using has a Dell TrueMobile 350 BT internal card that uses toshiba drivers. Unfortunately the only drivers Dell has available are fairly old - v4.00.11(D)

Which version of the toshiba stack have you guys been working with?

    Got one!

    I just purchased a D-Link DBT-120 Rev. B4 @ ebay...

I nearly bought a DBT-122, but I recognized that this uses the Broadcom stack again, not the recommended BlueSoleil stack.

I hope the purchase was worth it...

Software stack doesn't matter, if your integrated device is CSR or ISSC based, then it will work.

Doesn't matter, as long as the new DLink dongles is CSR or ISSC based, then it will work...

OK these are 2 different quotes from 2 different posts... You are saying that the solution is based on the windows stack, but also that the dongles must be based on CSR or ISSC... Would you say there might be problems if it was a broadcom chip running the XP SP2 stack (and not the widcomm stack)? Im just confused on how the operation is going to work... ESPECIALLY since the windows stack doesnt even support A2DP...

no, never said "the windows stack", we said "a windows stack", as in a "Win32" version of a bluetooth stack. Sorry for the confusion. Broadcomm based dongles are not supported by our 3rd party stack vendor (I dont't think, we are going to double check). Only CSR and ISSC based dongles, I think, are supported.

ALso, when I say "CSR based" or "ISSC based", that has nothing to do with the HCI Software stack (i.e. "the windows stack", or the broadcomm stack). It has to do with the bluetooth chipset inside of the dongle, i.e. CSR, or ISSC, or Broadcomm.

Scott, what's the quickest and easiest way to determine if a particular dongle is in fact CSR or ISSC-based? Is it clearly stated somewhere on the back of the packaging?

Can the dumber of us assume that you're going to provide a definitive list of adapters that do work?

A Bluetooth dongle running a Wincomm stack version 1.7 versus the hardware ISSC-based Bluetooth dongle-free adapter....huh?

Just tell me which one to buy. "Bob's Bluetooth dongle, Model 1A"...I'll get that one and be done with it!
