After my Kensington 33348 turns up to be CRAP (the drivers are just sucky WIDCOMM bloatware) I just bought one of these... less than $8 shipped:

This thread caused me to wonder if this is CSR based, and in wandering the world, I tripped into this site:
    http://www.bonphi.com/bluetooth-usb-dongles.html

Found my adapter (look for something that looks like yours, much of what you buy retail is just OEM re-branded) and the answer popped positive:
    http://www.bonphi.com/BH-0102014.html

One additional thing that I think is useful to point out... As you shop for a Bluetooth dongle, be sure it's native USB 2.0. There's no reason to run a USB 1.1 dongle these days.
Did you end up ordering one of these off ebay? Did it turn out toe be CSR based? It is a very good price and if it is definitely CSR I'll probably order one.

Just looking at that site my current BT dongle looks a lot like this one http://www.bonphi.com/BH-0102016.html but is Broadcom based (I opened it up and looked) however the site says their one is CSR based. It might just be that they use the same housing as other manufacturers.

True and True... But given that we don't know when this new stack will be out, some folks may be tired of waiting and fighting the WIDCOMM driver mess.

I did end up ordering one from that auction, and I'll have to check specifically for it to be CSR. Good point on the reuse of footprint.

Actually, I'm thrilled that my Kensington finally works, so I may not care too much about the $8 dongle right now.

You might not care much about an $8 bluetooth dongle but the rest of us are VERY interested in a dongle which only costs $8 posted and might work with the new software

I know, and I will look at mine. No worries, I think of y'all before myself.

Besides, one of these will end up on my work PC in the office so that I can work off-grid when required. No, not for surfing "stuff"! We need non-internal network connections in order to test and this makes things easy.

It's worth pointing out that ALL USB devices certified after the v2.0 spec was released are '2.0' devices. 2.0 does not necessarily mean it supports high-speed mode or offers any feature other than was offered with v1.1. I guarantee you that all BT dongles are USB 1.1 or 2.0 full speed. The 2.0 in this case really doesn't mean much...

Same goes for BT 2.0. The '+EDR' on the end is the high speed version...

Does this mean any other currently loaded Windows stack will need to be uninstalled? I sure hope this new stack can support all the profiles Widcomm/Broadcomm and IVT offered. (NOT Microsoft since they stubbornly refuse to recognize many BT profiles)

Is there a full list of profile support? Who is the stack vendor? At least then I could do a search on the BT QPL (qualified products list) to see the full feature list supported. It should be proprietary information, unless you are writing a completely new Windows BT stack, which I doubt since the certification effort alone would be overwhelming. I only ask since I once worked on Bluetooth embedded devices, and I use a lot of the profiles.

The included bluetooth software can coincide with other bluetooth software on the system, should not be a problem, as long as our included stack gets the rights to the usb device when it gets enumerated.
At this time, Centrafuse will support the handsfree/headset profile only. There is a little throw in where OBEX push will work so CF can accept contacts from other bt devices.

Streaming synchronous voice audio over an asynchronous usb connection is no easy task, and the software will only work only as good as the hardware it is using. I wouldnt count on an $8 dongle (including shipping?!?) giving you clean voice over bluetooth. Just my opinion, could be wrong though.
