You are again not reading that i'm saying it is fair and that i'm anti CF. Try and pay attention to my example. CF doesn't suck the creators of CF don't suck the situation sucks cause we have to pay more money. Its one of those for it to be fair to supplier they have to charge. It would be great if Ford gave me the new version of the car i bought every year but its unrealistic and I understand they must make money some how or else there would be no CF4.0 or CF3.1(which they probably won't charge an upgrade for).
They are completely reasonable. But can anyone say it wouldn't be great if it was all free.

I know some on these forums have had problems with Streetdeck but since the restart I have had no problems, Streetdeck is Hq here in Md and is also a small company but they made there product way better and way more usable by developing there own navigation engine. Flux has way more developers then the streetdeck team but yet they couldn't develop there own navigation engine, sounds pretty sad to me i'm not bashing I am just being realistic. Lets look at it, you have to buy the new 3.0 version and if you know anything about navigation you won't use that piece of junk Destinator so you will have to upgrade your navigation software to embed into Centrafuse so lets say you spend about 79.99 + ball bark 80.00 for new navigation software so thats 159.99 when you can get Streetdeck for 99.00 with a revolutionary new nav engine, a no brainer for me which is why I made the decision to use Streetdeck the nav engine is off the hook way better then Destinator which is why they got my business and not Flux. if the Streetdeck team can develop there own nav engine so can Flux.
Those questions are interesting, but they don't respond to what Bxsteez said. I'm in the same boat as Bxsteez. We paid full price -- $250 -- for CF Nav edition less than 8 months ago. Shortly after that, they dropped the price to half of what we paid. Now MP3Car offers CF plus Nav plus a free 3.0 upgrade for even less than that: $115.
I can understand hitting the cheap seats for an upgrade fee, but we paid full price. I don't think the upgrade charge is cool.
For my upgrade fee, I get 3.0. And I get an outdated Nav system I really need to replace anyway.
Nope, I'm not happy.
I'm not leaving Centrafuse. I don't deny FluxMedia's need for money, nor do I deny their right to make money. I do want them to be profitable. I know I don't have to upgrade. But I don't like the way this laid out.
To go to your two examples: (1) Ford doesn't cut the price of its cars by 54%. Centrafuse did. (2) This upgrade is not of the order of magnitude that the shift from CRT to LCD was; this is an incremental improvement of half of the program, and the other half -- Nav -- is being allowed to wither away, unimproved and increasingly outdated.
I'm still in for the long haul with CF, and yes, I'll upgrade. But I think the cost is too high for those who paid full price. And I get to complain.

If just enough is really good, then too much ought to be perfect.

.
Yes but it will not be part of the core of CF anymore.
They made the option to embed any NAV engine u'd like, plus dropped the price.
The new features will quickly over shadow the Destinator issue.
Maybe because I am so tied in with Centrafuse, I honestly don't mind paying a upgrade fee, or if I had to, paying full price. The fact that FLUX has tried so hard to get features I want, and personally helped me so much I think its worth it. Any other company would charge between $32.00 - $75.00 an hour to get tech support. I have mentioned it in the past, but the whole reason for the CF1 to CF2 freebie, was all because Phonco was no longer in production, leaving a major feature missing in CF1. CF2 had a working solution in the works and felt it to be fair to allow CF1 users to upgrade and have all their features work. CF 2 though is pretty much solid, and all major features work as promised (on most peoples systems). So now its time to pay a upgrade fee like every other software company charges. I know alot of people would like to avoid paying the money, but most of us have spent a good chunk of money on our setups, alittle more isn't going to hurt.

Also CF has wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more features then SD. You say it as though its so easy to design a NAV engine. I have seen people here try that and give up. Yea SD may have good navigation, but thats about it. Also it isn't revolutionary. You obviously prefer to have a good solid NAV engine, but me (and others) prefer to have a feature rich FE, and simply add a good NAV engine to it (iG 2k9). All SD is, is a NAV engine that entertains, while CF is a full featured Infotainment front end. You cant even really compare them. Does SD have TPMS, Phone, etc, etc, etc.... i think the only competition with CF is RR, and after the CF3 release, CF will finally be even. As far as SD though, everyone knows what I call it ($h!+ Deck).

I would say that the SD2 nav software is spectacular but i thinks SD2 is Nav software with some extra features where CF2.1 is a Multimedia environment designed for CarPCs. I dunno i could be wrong but i'm using SD2 on my Viliv S5 and its no multimedia center.
