What's wrong with having a nice little logo in there?
I wasn't bagging your car - just your memory! You're right - I drive neither of those - with a WRX, I don't need to

For mine - I think of things from a development point of view as 'needs' or 'wants'. A car logo falls into the 'want' category, and makes skinning an application a PITA as the designer needs to do 100 different versions of their skin. Feb sure has a lot more patience than I do

Nyuk Nyuk, yeah that would be my fault (by creating car brands) But then again, if you look at Netsuo's (NMC) way of handling car brands, then the designer doesn't have to do many versions of the skin.

Ok, my bad... Yeah, I know Renaults are crappy, and their logo is crappier.

I just said to make the skin, in such a way, so that we can add a small car logo. If you don't want a logo, like C4M here, you just don't add one... pretty simple actually...

    Gah

Taking it all way too personal. If you like your car, then that's great. I love my car, so I'm happy. What I think of your car is irrelevant. Careful reading will indicate that I did not proffer an opinion.

Back on topic: I never said that I don't want a logo - I said that I don't need one. Although Centrafuse is the closest to what I think is the perfect solution, there are other more important bits of functionality to be completed first to make this look like a stock installation (ie hide the cursor is a great example).

That's all I'm trying to say. My apologies if you consider my comments a personal attack. Please refer to appropriately placed smilies and winkies for an indication of tone and intention.

    Colour Depth

    Hi

While we are thinking about the design for a skin for Centrafuse, may I suggest that the colour range used is 16bit rather than 32 bit?

I run my CarPC at 16bit in the vain hope that having a small range of colours to interpolate might make it a shade faster. On top of that, the screens that we are running are so small, I'm not sure if I would pick the difference anyway.

Does colour depth impact the thing that changes the gamma? When I darken the screen, I notice that there are artifacts on the graduations.

Keep it as simple as possible. You know, like the stock skins from BMW, Mercedes...

you will gain very little/ next to none/ not noticable performace gains by running at 16bit. You see artifacts and gradients because your not using enough colors to smoothly blend the full color range. If you picking at straws for performance gains it may be time to upgrade

One major design flaw that I see, at least for me, is the lack of some positive indication that you have "pushed" a button. Yes I know that the thin button border changes color but that is not very noticable out of the corner of my eye, on my 7 inch lcd in a moving car. Maybe you can modify the skin to make the button or border bigger - I haven't tried yet. But this positive button feedback should be part of the basic design.

I would prefer that the entire button flash yellow or inverse color or something like that.

Otherwise a very professional looking application. Thanks.
