I honestly don't know what everyone is complaining about. I haven't noticed any issues with CF running slow. I have an underclocked XP2600+ with 512MB RAM.
although it has been said that the performance of CF will be improved down the road, im just curious if i can get an estimation from other users as to how well CF has ran on your systems and what specs you have.

takes about 5 seconds between screens, otherwise very responsive. the load between screens isnt much of an issue though. I dont change from video to music to gps every 5 minutes anyway. my main issue right now is windows boot time and diver initialization, but i plan on getting a faster hard drive soon to help with that
AMD duron 1200
512 MB ram
sb mp3+ usb
nLited xp pro sp2
agreed. running a 2.0 Celeron here w/512MB and haven't had a single problem. but the main reason i ask is that I'm starting to second guess the idea of using this computer as a carpc and rather build or buy a new one. ebay has been my first choice for looking for a new one (heck, i bought my mom her own computer on ebay for $130 shipped. 733MHz P3, 512MB, 20G and its working great). but id like to know how low i can go before CF starts getting on the sluggish side (nothing like waiting 3 minutes to get to the gps panel)

your specs should be just fine for a carPC. many forum members are running much less without problems. Remember, a faster system will have greater power supply requirements.
System: AMD Duron 1200+ , 512 MB ram , usb sb mp3+ , Tview 7" touchscreen , M1-ATX PSU , Slot Load iMac DVD-Rom , 40 GB laptop HDD, netgear USB 802.11g
Progress: Installation: 90% Dash fabrication: 80%
Parts Needed: USB GPS
Like i've said in a couple other posts, CF is running great for me w/ a VIA M10000. I would NOT, however, recommend using an Audigy 2 NX w/ it. The extra overhead from the USB audigy really killed performance.
Hi,
on a M10000 with 512 MB it runs very fine !

i never drink water cos fish ***** in it. (w.c. fields)
M1000 with 256Mb of ram and it was sluggish. 30 seconds to load and 8-10 second to change screens and 2-3 seconds to FF or RR.
The program was so slow with 256Mb of ram I had to switch back to frodoplayer.
p3 833mhz, 512 pc133 onboard sound/video (VIA)
xp 1150mhz, 256mb ddr2100, onboard audio/video (VIA)
both running pretty well, a couple of seconds to load for the first time each section but after that it runs very well
and by the way, you are in a car, you are supposed to take care of the road, who cares about few seconds of loading?![]()
Peugeot 206 1.4 HDi
