Video aspect ratio workaround

I found out this trick to get correct aspect ratio in video modes, until david fixes it (maybe it could be avoided now)
using ffdshow to decode the video (for mpeg1-2-4 and tons of other codecs) under "Resize & aspect" on the bottom of the page, simply select "keep original aspect ratio" , and enable the resize tab in the left colum. it works perfectly

This is good news... I was having some difficulty getting the proper aspect ratio without modifying the codec like you did... I am still working on it though, but this is an great work around... If you are using other codecs like Nvidia or PowerDVD they have similiar options as well...

I'm trying to force ffdshow to decode mpeg2 streams too, I know it can be done, if anyone could help..

found. simply select the libavcodec for all the codecs in ffdshow options, it processes the video (and fixes the ratio) and then passes the stream to the decoder

sorry to revive an old thread, but will 1.3 include an option for video/dvd aspect ratio correction internally?
