Thread: CF 1.3 Update

All button actions are configurable in 1.3... The 5 main buttons on the left, the 6 buttons on the home page, and there are 6 new buttons when you click Apps... all 17 buttons are configurable to say and perform any of the available actions through easily editing a buttonsaction.xml file in the system folder. You don't have to edit the skin.

Everything other than the base will work through a plugin system. I am not sure if I will have the SDK ready for 1.3, which is what the plugins will be based on. Weather, Web, Traffic, and Phone are all going to be plugins.

The actions that will be available are:

MIXER
DVD
APPS
TOOLS
APP1
APP2
APP3
APP4
APP5
APP6

Plus you will be able to specify the action for any plugin that is installed.

I think I am going to go ahead and release 1.3 really soon and then focus on getting my SDK finished. It is holding things up right now and I have a good version that I'm sure everyone would like to go ahead and start using right? Then release 1.4, which will include the plugins Weather, Web, Traffic, and Phone... 1.4 will come out very shortly after 1.3, since I am already about half way done with the SDK and all the skins have already been designed for the plugins.

Also in 1.3 GPS will need to be setup as one of your external apps such as APP1. You will simply add, for example, APP1 as the action for one of the main buttons on the left and have APP1 setup, though the externalapps.xml file, to say GPS and launch your specified GPS application. The embedding problems that occured with some map software such as MapMonkey should all be fixed. I will include integrated Destinator 3 support again in 1.4...
