I will also request that you not have to click the forward arrow to go into a directory/artist/genre etc as it is just too many clicks to do while driving. The only problem this presents that I see is adding an entire directory or all the songs by one artistis or whatever. If you wanted to do that, after clicking into that section you could have it set up so you could (option 1) click the address bar at the top and then click load to load that entire section of (option 2) just click load immediatley after entering the section before anything else is clicked to load the entire section.

Also, the popup after adding a song to the queue brings about way too many clicks as well. You could just take that off an use the sound of the button as a confirmation, or you could put a little circle (similar to what I guess is the favorites star) of all the songs currently on the queue, so that when you click to add a song to the queue the circle appears next to the track name as a confirmation that it has been selected.

It would also be great to move songs around once they are in the queue. The easiest way for the user to do this would probably be with two extra arrows in the queue section of the media manager.

I love the configurable side buttons, by the way. Great program, especially once these initial bugs are ironed out.

you can also double click the item in list instead of hitting forward... Converting to single click makes many things confusing... Most all the functionality changes... I will look into it...

I will remove that confirmation box...

Double clicking is hard to do in a vehicle. Plus it's as many clicks as clicking forward.

Don't forget about moving songs in the queue!

    Thanks a lot

i second the double clicking thing, its bad. single click when ever possible is best.
I dont really see what functionality it would change. Actually just now going through the differnt screens i see why you want to keep the double click, but those problems can be solved easily. Ill post some mock ups later of examples.

Veetid, you've outdone yourself again. This is freakin sweet, and the dynamic scaling is pure genius!

As you get past the initial bugs, here are a couple of suggestions (ok, more than just a couple, but i think they're all valid..) that I really think would enhance your program:

1.) Visualisation capability for line-in (like you have for wav output)
(Currently, if you don't have a playlist loaded, and you forget you're listening to XM/whatever and hit the vis button, it causes a .net error)

    2.) DSP for line-in.
(e.g. I love the programming on XM, but my XMPCR sounds like crap and I'd like to be able to change that without having to install additional hardware. Or if you could point me toward a standalone DSP application that I could run, that would probably be just as well..)

3.) Mute all lines when exiting Centrafuse
(e.g. Sometimes XMPCR keeps playing after exiting CF/while the PC shuts down. Using FrodoSatelliteRadioX until CF supports XM internally)

    4. ) Ability to have exit/hibernate/shutdown (or other internal functions) as configurable action buttons like you can do with the external apps.

5.) OSK in external apps fullscreen mode should enter text into whatever window is below it (e.g. in iGuidance to enter an address)

6.) "Check for update/Auto-update" for Centrafuse via a button within the settings section.

7.) Short presses on Volume button changes in 1% increments, but if held longer, the volume change becomes faster.

8.) Repeat shouldn't repeat the same song until all songs have already been played once.

9.) When viewing visualization, it should be optional to view the album info/cover.

10.) Ability to start in any embedded app, not just Media.

11.) When using an application that utilizes line-in, make the title-area say the name of the application instead of whatever the last media (MP3, etc.) played was. (Does that make sense?)

The next one is a personal preference, it makes it easier for me to figure out what's going on within the application. I've modified the default skin for myself to reflect these changes as much as I can, so here is the suggestion:

12.) Buttons such as voice and connection should only look different when they are ENabled, and work the way the mute button currently does. - I prefer to view them as status indicators.

    Thanks!

In my eyes, and how it is with 99% of other frontends too, is you should be able to click on your music right from the main screen to get to your artist files, it is way too much clicking to do while driving, it could be simplified down to 3 clicks for directory plays. Look at how Meedio does it, simple and effective.

The program is great, but I think i will go back to 1.2 till some more updates are had. Skin in 1.2 is a little more.....friendly color wise? Ill start looking at skinning a bit.

EDIT: Did I miss something as far as the visualizations go? I see none but the coverart
2000 Sunfire build 100%, or is it ever really 100%?

click on the cover art to switch visualisations and then hit the eye to make it fullscreen.

What if you made press-and-hold do the same thing as double click? Would this be better for those of you that don't like double clicking? (I'm ok with it)

I would also like to have a ".." at the top rather than having to hit the "<" arrow.

    1. Can you please add support for MPC (Musepack) format? I have added the extension to the config file and installed as many MPC codecs as I could find (put them in the Centrafuse root folder, is that correct?), but it still doesn't play. These files will play in just about any other player available. I have 1600 files in this format and I prefer not to degrade them by transcoding, or worse yet having to rip that whole stack of CDs again.

    2. Perhaps I'm just slow, but the whole Library/Que/Music Folder/Load This/Que That/ system is confusing as hell to me, can you please provide instructions for this part of the program at least? It seems like a lot of hoops to jump through just to get to the tunes.

I like the program but right now it's not much use to me. Looking forward to future bug fixes. Thanks David for the hard work you've done, I understand how big a task it is to code an entire app on your own.

I will look into the format... The way I use the manager is the first time I load it I go into the library and then browse my albums... Then everytime I click media manager it is sitting on my albums.. I browse through and find one I like and simply click load and it starts... You can easily just use the library and the load button and thats it... don't worry about the queue and the playlists... You can build playlists and easily load them while you are driving and also easily load favorites... The load button functions like "play now" did in 1.2... you can click load on any screen at any point and it will start playlist music...

Everytime you load the manager it is where you left off.. so if you use the load button and just browse back and forth in the library, it's fairly simple... You can set centrafuse to auto startup in music, then your library is one click away right on the music to select then just browse and find what you want and hit load...

The queue can easily be used to listen to a more specific group of music... You can clear your queue by clicking playlists, queue will be highlighted already at the top, and then click the "-"... When browsing through the library you can click the "+" to add to the queue... The confirmation box will be removed and be replaced with some sort of notification that takes no interaction... After you add a couple of albums to your queue just click the big queue button on the left and hit load... you can also highlight, for example, the 4th song and when you hit load it will load the whole queue, but start playing on the selected song...

If you have a queue built that you like you simply hit the save icon and give it a name... It will then be available to easily load.. You click playlists on the left and it will be in your list.. Just hightlight and click load...

This gives full control to build and edit playlists and the simplicity of easily loading music with the load button... I plan on implementing single click to make things even easier..

hope some of that makes sense... And this is the first public release of a BETA in an early state, so things will be improved ...
