Yes, I think a "Velocity Scroll Bar" like Picasa has would be ideal. When you have 2000+ songs, it takes a while to get through them all using a standard scroll bar.

Picasa has a wonderful and innovative scroll bar in thumbnail view. It does take a little prodding and investigations to work out its various capabilities, but it turns out that using the scroll bar alone, one can:
    • Cause the pane to scroll at various speeds
    • Skip a page at a time
    • Skip a folder at a time

Then everytime I click media manager it is sitting on my albums.. I browse through and find one I like and simply click load and it starts... You can easily just use the library and the load button and thats it... don't worry about the queue and the playlists... You can build playlists and easily load them while you are driving and also easily load favorites... The load button functions like "play now" did in 1.2... you can click load on any screen at any point and it will start playlist music...

Everytime you load the manager it is where you left off.. so if you use the load button and just browse back and forth in the library, it's fairly simple... You can set centrafuse to auto startup in music, then your library is one click away right on the music to select then just browse and find what you want and hit load...

The queue can easily be used to listen to a more specific group of music... You can clear your queue by clicking playlists, queue will be highlighted already at the top, and then click the "-"... When browsing through the library you can click the "+" to add to the queue... The confirmation box will be removed and be replaced with some sort of notification that takes no interaction... After you add a couple of albums to your queue just click the big queue button on the left and hit load... you can also highlight, for example, the 4th song and when you hit load it will load the whole queue, but start playing on the selected song...

If you have a queue built that you like you simply hit the save icon and give it a name... It will then be available to easily load.. You click playlists on the left and it will be in your list.. Just hightlight and click load...

This gives full control to build and edit playlists and the simplicity of easily loading music with the load button... I plan on implementing single click to make things even easier..

hope some of that makes sense... And this is the first public release of a BETA in an early state, so things will be improved ...

Great, thanks for the quick reply! I'll give your instructions a try. Maybe it will be easy to add MPC, there are Winamp and DirectShow plugins available at http://www.musepack.net/

I've always wished CF had a "minimize to tray" rather than just an "exit" button. Now that CF is going to be my shell, we need it even more (but it should also run explorer.exe if it is not already running).

I was thinking of making one of the embedded Apps "explorer.exe" for now. I was also thinking of makeing "notepad.exe buttons.xml" and "notepad.exe external.xml" two of the apps so that you will actually be able to fully configure CF from within the front-end. You got to make a UI for those files (just stick it on a page in the settings).

Velocity scrollbar? I'm not going to download a picture viewer just to find out what you are talking about . Is it like the zoom & tilt "velocity scroll-bars" in Google Earth?

CF already can already "letter-seek" if you hold down over the playlist/queue/artist list and drag up or down.

    2) When I am in the Media Manager and down a few levels deep in the library, if I click the Library button in the upper left, it should go to the root of the library.
Now thatīs a very good idea, atleast some way of getting fast to the top of the library is a good idea.

I think most of the confusion is the way people are used to choosing music. I used to have an EMPEG, where the structure of your music was very important, like \artist\album\songs, and David is more of a playlist guy.

The favorites thing has me puzled though, is the idea that you load some playlists with a lot of music, then "favorite" individual songs whenever you hear one you like, and then once in a while save the favorites to a playlist?

I think the cause of the confusion about the Media Manager comes down to the fact that David has thought a LOT about how to make it work, and because we donīt have the ability to read his mind, and documentation comes after people try the product, a lot of people is a bit confused.

So David, I think it is very important that you also put some explanation into the documentation, to make people understand "why" itīs working like it is.

    Video GoTo

Is it difficult to make a GoTo feature in the video? Maybe by holding down the play button for 3-5 secs, a pop-up appears with the ability to punch in 0-9 in a 4 digit format HH:MM and GoTo ?

    CD eject button

David, so far everything has been great. But what happen to the CD eject button that was found in 1.2? It has been really convenient to control the eject straight from CF.

    Cheers,

Yeah, like that, except much bigger. Picasa's pretty cool though, are you sure you don't want to try it?

On the attached image, the further away you drag the scroll bar from the center, the faster the page scrolls.
