Thread: CF BETA 2 [1.3] Requests

Well, here goes an obvious request... can you guys use a losless (not lossy) image format for the skins? I have no clue why you chose to use a lossy format, like JPG!

Is this a 'memory' reason? I would suggest using bitmap instead. It will make everything look that much crisper.

It was for memory reasons... I will look into it, but if the skin was to increase by 30 megs because of images size then CENTRAFUSE would use 30 megs more of ram...

I did a bitmap compared to jpg on my lilliput and couldn't really tell a difference... Especially not one worth potentially doubling the applications memory consumption...

well you can always use a low compression jpeg.. or does CF re-compress them?..

david: great product, I'm a directory browser guy too, I'll give the library DB whirl... Also, one touch clicking is a good place to start, but you know that, keep it up, and remember us little guys once you hit it big time.

Agreed. One problem related to this, is that when we edit the JPG skins, and save, we are (I think!) recompressing the file. With every save it will become more and more lossy.

Of course none of this would matter if the orignal skins were made public

David, was this on purpose? I mean, forcing the uppercase. I really really hope you will consider changing this! Mixed case is a good thing, a lot more readable. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME THEN I WILL UPPERCASE ALL MY MESSAGES FROM NOW ON!

All uppercase is really not easy on the eyes. Perhaps you could make it an option in the skin file? Something like...

<UPPERCASE>FALSE</UPPERCASE>

Just thought I'd bring it up again... but I think it would be cool to have the DIM button be configurable as either 'gamma adjust' as it is now, or instead toggle between 2 skins to allow a day/night functionality.

I had to take it out because of performance... It required a lot of processing power to scroll that list really fast and paint all the anti-aliased text and it's background.. what about my proposal to lock the current playing song in the center of the window? maybe a toggle button..
I was also thinking about another cool thing.. after some seconds from the last click on CF, in media mode during playback would be very cool if you can put a fading window showing the current song specs, like duration, codec, bitrate, maybe the album art or a small vumeter.. something cool to cover that plan boring playlist once I press on the screen this window should disappear and let me use CF. After a certain amount of time (customizable?) it should come back, it would be nice

yeah im with that auto dimming. or 2 skins idea.. auto is better than manual

another requrest is in the media manager if ur browsing the library and ur a few folders in u should be able to click the libry button on the side and it gets u back to the start instead of pressing back back back etc

i had another but i think of that later on. i forget now
