For me I think it is the best beecause it has no need of codec installation.

It plays all media whith is one codec.

It plays DVD too and it is not big at all installed.

Still, VLC won't work with CF as CF plays what WMP will play..

    You're right.

I just use VLC for DVD player in "external APPS" mode.

I really don't want to turn this into a VLC vs anything else discussion, but you are wrong.

VLC doesn't need any _separate_ codec/filter, but if you look in the Plugins folder it allready have 187 dll's, plugins, filters, codecs, whatever, included in the package.
It's 30MB installed, that's about 8MB larger than my package and 14MB larger than just the filters (only thing you'll need in CF) so it's not exceptionally small either.

Either way, using VLC with CF is rather pointless so let's stay on CF track.

I use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.38. Link to Official site: http://www.codecguide.com/

Whith this codec pack you can play all files! Including Real and Quicktime!
There are some installation options that must be right.

Start the installation of K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.
If you only need Playback support. Use Profile 2: Playback only
Now you need to select some codecs that arnt selected by the installer.
    Select/Add:
Indeo (this will add checkmark to Ligos Indeo 5.2, Intel Indeo 4.5, Intle Indeo 3.2)
    Scroll down and select:
    Cyberlink DVD decoder
    select also:
MPEG-2 (click on Ligos on both Demuxer and Decoder)

I just saw there was an Boost AC3 volume option on AC3 filter havnt tried it maybe you want to use it too.

Now you can continue with the installer.
Hopefully you can play all media files in CF now. Including QT and Real! MPEG-2, DVD etc.
