oh ... and an integrated file sync utility would be nice.
regarding single click ... i think single click, when enabled, should work everywhere, even in the music manager mode, EXCEPT on files. So navigating through folders are single click, but you should have to double click a file to add it to que (or single click and click +)
After using this for a while in the car today, I have three other suggestions:
- when browsing through artists or albums it takes a while to get to the bottom if you have a lot of music. I just read about the click and drag trick, and will try that tomorrow, but I can see where this would be tough with single click enabled. my idea is to have a 'quick search' button. click it and a keyboard sort of window pops up with letters a-z ... clicking on a letter immediately takes you to the first artist, or album starting with that letter. no clicking of 'ok' or any such maddness. if I want to jump to the letter U ... I'd just click the quick search button and hit 'u' ... that's it.
- the volume seems to be VERY touchy. I have my WAV volume at about 30%, yet the difference between 2% and 5% on the master volume is rather significant. sometimes 2% is too little, but 4% is too much, so I need to be able to get to 3% without hitting up and down having the volume jump all over the place. I'd like to see a single quick tap of the vol up or down only increase/decrease the volume by 1%. Of course that all would change if you took the log approach. IMO, frodoplayer handles the volume perfect.
- an option to execute a command on startup / shutdown of CF, as well as after hibernate would be useful (like FP does). I think I could use that feature to reset my USB hub and firewire DVD which don't always work after coming out of hibernate (maybe there's another way ...)
And then I had one question ... can you close an external app without taking it to full screen mode? I haven't been able to find a way without clicking the title bar to go to full screen and then clicking 'close'.

shakes: I will be fixing the problem with the hold jump feature and singleclick.. for now disable singleclick and see how it works... I think you will like it..
can you explain what you mean by log approach? what does frodoplayer do?
executing a command before/after isn't a bad idea...
currently you have to fullscreen to close...

I'll try it and let you know ...Originally Posted by veetid
log meaning logarithmic. i remember a discussion a while back with a guy saying changes in the lower % are more significant than changes in the higher % ... and a logarithmic approach (as opposed to linear, straight %) to the volume would help it be more even.Originally Posted by veetid
FP is linear as well ... but it's very accurate. tapping vol+ only goes up by 1% every time ... and holding vol+ increases the volume very smoothly. my experience when using FP (between MediaCar dying and cf 1.4 coming out) it was very easy to increase and decrease the volume the exact amount I wanted.
CF controls the volume rather smoothly when holding + or - ... but it's harder to have accurate control. If it's at 10% and I tap + it may jump to 17%, tap - it may go down to 8%, tap + it will go to 13%. I'm not sure if there's a pattern or not ... all I know is if I want an exact % (give or take 1%) it's tough to get there sometimes.
if you haven't played with FP much I'd say install it just to get a feel for how the volume works. (plus you could see how he handles the script execution after hibernate)

I use my carpc while I am delivering and tend to leave it on all the time (power button set to no action) when I am running inside and out for those 30 seconds. However there are times I would like to standby or shutdown the system. However, if I use centrafuse to do this my power controler sends a command seconds after centrafuse does its job turning back on the system. Would it be possible to have a configurable delay with these? So I can tell it to shutdown in X seconds.
Hardware: VIA Epia MS 12000, 512 DDR, 60GB HD, 7" Xenarc, GM-210, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Radio Xtreme
Software: Centrafuse2, Phonecontrol.net, nLite, TopoUSA 5.0, iGuidance, Girder, Winc
For speech recognition, would it be possible for centrafuse to mute audio while it listens to a command. For example, when it hears the magic word to start listening, have the audio mute so that it can hear the following command clearly.
Nice job on the new release, David.
I find it more helpful to know how much time remains in a song rather than how much time has elapsed. Perhaps you could include a switch so users can choose their preference.
2 things
1st i think the pause and play button is around the wrong way.. u press the play pause and pause to play
also there should be a feature to auto start apps, once the centafusehas loaded not to slow down load time. cus i like to have my gps always going. i dont wana have to press the apps button to load it.. this isnt just for gps thou..
I thought there was a load on start somewhere in the config files?
David - What i'd like to see, and I think I mentioned it before, is a way to disable the 'Keyboard/Close' bar on fullscreen. It's good for some apps, but lets say i'm going to have a camera embedded...i'd like to be able to have more screen space!
In this case, could you overlay a little 'X' in one of the corners or something? Like in external.xml, *KEYBOARD* or something?
It's just a little gripe.. Same goes with iNav fullscreen... Firefox, though..it'll come in handy for!
