    Hi;

Great, thanx so much, that is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I've just downloaded it and will try it out.

    Thanx again

    PeterC

Edit: just installed it, works great, a couple of suggestions / requests:

    1) Add the default path & filename format (i.e. yymmddnnn) to the config file, so that when you hit the caputre image button, it's a one button click without needing to select the folder / filename etc.
    2) Add the ability to invert the image in the config file (my cam is upside down)
    3) The dropdown box to select the device seems to keep focus and does not behave 'as expected' !

    Regards

    PeterC

As a programmer you can probably answer this then, is it possible to have the program record video in a cyclus? Like whenever the app is started it starts recording and saves the last XXminutes.

Then if someone hitīs my car I can save the last XX/15 minutes recording and hit his insurance company with it
Probably what would be better is, if it started buffering video on app startup, and you would press a button to save the past x minutes to disk.

Can't wait to get this out to the car, thanks for sharing entr0py!

    Hi, Ok some more feedback...

I just installed the webcam onto the center rear headrest pointing backwards, had a drive and what immediatly struck me when I was driving was that the image was the inverse of what I saw in the mirror, so it really needs the ability to mirror the image horizontally.

Originally I had the camera mounted upside down but have fixed that now.

Other potential enhancements would be to be able to set a frequency to automatically save the image for example under the same name carcam.jpg, or by using a timestamp kind of file name ?

Yeah, but that would require disk enough for the entire drive

@entr0py - do you have any plans of developing this app any further to include video capture?

I might in the future but there has not been too much interest in it. I dont even use it in the car, i just wrote that app b/c it was pretty simple to do. I prob should work on trying to flip the image horizontally and capture video to disk, but my cheap web camera stopped working so I would need to go buy a new one. I dont really feel like spending money or time developing something which I dont plan on using.
